Getting over the line

Superb performance, superb result, lifted spirits all round.

Bielsa correct in saying can't get down after bad result, cant get euphoric after good result, but it think a day or 2 or enjoying that performance ain't too bad!

But now we have to focus on task ahead. The reality is that the WBA performance was needed just to stay in touch, we're in a situation where we need to be at our best and hope others slip up a little.

It means we can't afford draws when we should get wins, we can't afford defeats when we should get draws, there is little margin for error now.

I hope this performance gives the players the confidence (if they didn't have it already) that Bielsa's systems, when applied work.

That they believe that their attitude of keeping going to the end will win them points (that video of 4 players closing down at 85 minutes is great example).

And also, I think they could do with a little mental break. Something completely different just for a day. Not a reward to not do training, but a reward for a perfect performance, a chance to unwind together.

We are in excellent position, injured players are one match closer a return, Bamford is having great impact, players rising to the occasion, and maybe, just maybe, our form could be returning at just the perfect time for us.

I agree, but we have some tough fixtures.

The line is yet a long way away.
Still almost 25% of the season to play.
In terms of a marathon still another 6 1/4 miles to run.
Stay calm and keep faith with Bielsa

11 Cup Finals now! We need to raise our game to the WBA levels again if possible. Very very positive on Friday night! Loved it! MOT

Maybe the Wendies can do a job on the Blunts tonight.

I think our fitness will give us the edge and we need to continue to score first, once we do that literally no one has had an answer to our style.

I think it comes down to two things.

1st. How we defend, mostly set pieces. Cut out conceding soft goals.

2nd. How Bamford finishes for the rest of the season. No coincidence that with him in the sides he has had more clear cut chances than we were creating before. He needs to kick on from Friday and put them away.

There was a lot of mental and physical strength shown against WBA. Probably the most pressure the lads have been under all season and they excelled.

Fully agree. Got to say, I was quite down about how the team was playing and didn't see Friday's performance coming.

The early goal made a massive difference, and it would be interesting (in a 'Sliding Doors' kind of way) to see how the game would have gone had that goal not gone in.

Similarly, though, I could flip that comment round, and wonder how the Norwich game might have gone had an early Leeds chance been taken.

Onwards we go, with a few more big games coming up. With Sheff U still to play at home, promotion is still in our own hands.
