Great to see the academy doing so well again.

Quick turn around given the disaster that Cellino was and credit has to go to the club from top to bottom for this. Brown's pass was unbelievable against Watford, but I don't think he gets on the bench for the first team with a fully fit squad at the moment.

Talking of fully fit squad, does anyone know if Forshaw is back in training yet? He was meant to be back a couple of weeks ago. And can we expect to see Clarke on the bench for Bristol or will it be longer?

nah Rich - I'm having Clarky as a striker

no seriously I guess you're right (for now), he is a winger for us... but what role would you put somebody like sterling in? - if you asked Pep I'm sure he's say he's a forward, a striker.

think Pep even puts Sterling up top on occasions too..

Clarke's a striker... honest

I remember Danny Rose being listed as a striker in the programme when he was at Leeds before being sold to Spurs. Does he count?

I might be a bit off here, but is the reason that we don't produce any strikers or wingers in recent years (Clarke first in a while) becsuse they are the most talented and sought after players so end up at all the big academies?

Have any clubs in this league produced any good strikers from academies recently? Maybe a wider reason to it.

Raheem Stirling came through the QPR academy.

Andy Keogh? Leeds' youth product I recall and came after Smith. Played at a reasonable standard too.

Aaron Lennon?

Not a centre forward but as an attacking wide man he’s done OK for himself.

Two World Cup squads. 250 plus games for Spurs. Player of the season there once. Nominated for young PFA player of the year twice. League Cup medal with Spurs.

Probably the most successful of our recent academy players. Only sold for £1m when we were skint.

Didn't Noel Whelan come through our youth set-up?

Edmondson is a local talent we should keep an eye on, still only 16 or 17 so lot of time before he proves himself

Smith was excellent, proving hard work enhances talent

But a striker often only works well based on the team around them throughout their academy years. If the midfield can't feed them or the tactics leave them isolated, they won't develop properly
