Blueprint

Amazingly good defensive display tonight, didn’t see that coming after the last few games!
Anyone else think that tonight’s tactics should be the blueprint for big away days? We’ve got Liverpool and city coming up away, if we play like we did tonight we would have a chance.
Successful teams have games like that in the locker, we’ve all seen Mourinhos teams do it and even Fergjed united and the Liverpool sides of the 80s did it when necessary. I’ve always felt we struggle to do it but tonight it was almost perfect, we’ve shown last few years we can compete with the best in Europe, tonight was another brick in the road for us

Lets look at this seriously and I am not knocking our performance tonight but they really should have scored at least once in the first half so no I dont want this as a blueprint unless we are already 3-0 up

I never wants to experience that first half again as long as I watch Spurs play again!
Phew... glad it's over. Bayer were ruthless, Vert and Lloris saved our bacon.

Great all round result.

Spurs, we win the big games this season and mess around with bottom of the league teams this season. Talk about a rollercoaster ride of emotions!

OP

The defence was magnificen last night. Rode their luck a bit first 30 minutes or so, but thereafter got to grips with things and actually played as a unit, kept their shape. Same defence please manager for the Southampton game, no tinkering.

Except Spurs have lost most big games this season, and beaten most of the bottom of the table teams.

Agree to some point as away from home against good ball manipulating teams we do struggle to get a foothold on the game . If opposing teams employ the press as well then we struggle even more.

It’s imperative players we bring in now are strong technically. There are a few in our side with the ball at their feet you just don’t feel confident they will keep it or use it intelligently.
Away from home last season we tried going toe to toe with Man City last season and it was a bit of a car crash really so agree we need to be more cautious. A point away at Our big rivals is a good point .
