New Head of Recruitment?

Eduardo Macia is the incumbent at Leicester City, but his contract apparently expires in the summer. If we've not moved to replace it yet then there is probably some truth in the reports that we may be looking for a replacement.

This might be an easy link with Brendon Rodgers being the new manager at Leicester City, but step forward: Lee Congerton, Celtic’s head of recruitment.

It doesn't look like he's particularly rated by Sunderland or Celtic fans in his past roles. Is this a dream pairing in the making with Rudkin and Congerton? - or is it ammunition for a BS meltdown?

Steve Walsh might be available ..... just saying .....

Not sure about Steve Walsh returning, would he be a success again, can he work with BR and does he want to move south?

Not sure on any of those points. Despite his obvious successes I'm not even sure that I'd want him back on the basis that you move on. But at the moment the only criteria is that you have to be better than Macia or this Congerton fella.

I'm not as convinced about Macia being "all bad" as some are. I think our recruitment post summer 2016 hasn't been too bad. Our really awful recruitment took place in that summer and surrendered any impetus we may have gained from our title win - but that surely was on Walsh's watch?

If we are to beleive other fans views on Rodgers ability in the transfer market then we need a top chief scout and head of recruitment to support him.

I think Macia looks like he’s more suited to a hero oran set up than the premier league, but I certainly think that our recent transfer windows have been fine.

However, I think Macia wants out and it’s not a bad thing for Rodgers to have his guy.

Personally, I would love to see Steve Walsh back in that role. Love it. But would he see it as a step down, and would he want the commute?

Mersey,

Out of interest what is a "hero oran" set up"?

Not too bothered about Macia myself. Like Puel, I think he's average at this level - no more, no less.

This Congerton fellow seems widely disliked though, and from his record I hope the club's hierarchy are treating this with great caution.
