On the pen decision, I think it’s a close one, his arm is technically by his side even though he’s jumped but it is slightly out and it clearly strikes him on the arm so I can understand it being given.

Amidst all the glory though I wanted to single out one player who I thought was magnificent, Scott McTominay, what a performance from that kid. He had everything last night but his passing impressed me the most, he was firing balls into feet and he actually got right in Veratti’s face that much the wee man was resorting to almost greeting to the referee.
There’s been lots of talk about him just being there because he done what Jose told him to do but I think on that performance he deserves more credit, he’ll have a good career and for Scotland that can only be a good thing

It was a harsh penalty.
But the defender made the choice to jump and turn his back. He did that with the sole intention of blocking the shot (which looked to be going miles over anyway).
If he does that and the ball hits his arm when it is even slightly raised then it will be given as a penalty these days. He made himself bigger when attempting to block his shot and it was his arm that the ball hit.
So unfortunately its a foul under current rules.
No-one made the defender jump like that. If he had stood his ground PSG would be in the next round.

I think even our most zealot fans have to admit that was an extranordinary fluke night. 2 gifts and a non pen. Up there with the biggest fluke jobs like Chelsea winning the CL.
