AS Roma and sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, more commonly known as Monchi, can confirm that the two parties have reached a mutual agreement to bring an early end to their professional relationship.
"I want to put on record our thanks to Monchi for his dedication during his time at the club and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours in football," said AS Roma CEO Guido Fienga.
The Spaniard, who spent 17 years as a sporting director at Sevilla, a club he also represented as a player, joined the Giallorossi in 2017.

This news should make for a few panicked boardrooms. I expect a nice bidding war to start soon.

If he was that good then he would already have been at a big club. Too much emphasis on a DOF.

DOF is vital if he's in charge of buying players. He was amazing for Sevilla, basically the reason Juande Ramos was rated and got the Spurs job.

Everyone seems to speak very highly of him. So hopefully he’ll make a difference. But if we really have £40m to spend it will be hard to notice any immediate big difference. These days It’s hard to buy many relatively unknown players on the cheap. Even If you’re super shrewd You’d be looking at 10-25m for those kind of players

Have to agree, you're almost certainly not going to pick up anyone close to being able to perform at the top level for less than 20m and that's if you've been very shrewd.
You could sign a load of youth that may or may not come good in 3-5 years.

The other choice is to sign older experienced players on the cheap but they are very few good enough to improve us

That's not really worth it if you're struggling for funds, they'd have no resale value
