Now that Aubameyang has got the monkey of missing that crucial penalty away to Spurs, off of his back by converting a penalty against UTD, I hope at least in the near future, he is not given the opportunity to take any more decisive penalties. I say this because today's penalty was poor and very saveable. When Lacazette is on the pitch he should be our designated penalty taker.

On a separate note, Suarez looked decent when he come on

He really should be given more minutes, especially in the Europa.
Good player in there.

I prefer Laca over Auba on penalties. Auba takes them because he is our leading scorer, not because he is our best pen taker. We honestly haven't found a replacement for Giroud on pen duties.

I’m not sure what Suárez offers that we already have and he’s barely played since joining which makes me wonder how much Emery rates him

Was impressed with Maltland-Niles or whatever he’s called, looked decent.

Agree with all of that. I can still see us paying his clause despite this for some reason.

Lacazette had an incredible penalty record at Lyon. I was very surprised he let Auba take the pen considering he won it. I’d have Lacazette on pens every time but I guess Auba is in the hunt for the golden boot so he gets the responsibility rightly or wrongly

Isn't there some weird French tradition about not taking pens you've won? Could be making that up but I'm sure it was a thing with some of our French players from the past too?

Henry definitely followed that but not sure if it is a French thing.

Yeah I tried googling but found nothing about it. I think it was mentioned with other players too but can't remember exactly

I should take them. That way no one ever has to worry about whether or not they'll go in because they just won't.

I suspect thats to do with his contract. I do not know specifically whats written in Suarez's contract but in other similar situations, contracts have clauses that kick in after a number of games, can be starts or sub appearances. So for example, we believe that there is no obligation to buy in his contract but that could actually be false if he were to start a specific number of games. Now if we limit that number this obligation may not kick in.
This was the situation with Baptista. Remember how he never played the number of games we expected?
