The Spursy Tag is Alive & Kicking

I wrote an article a few weeks ago asking whether or not the Spursy tag should be binned. I argued that it should have been. I was wrong. So wrong.

I can't comment on Saturday's performance because I have to admit that I was far too angry to watch MOTD or Sky Sports news. I might drum up the courage to watch a recording later this evening.

However, I was following comments on our match thread during the game on Saturday and it seemed like we were playing extremely well in the first half, but it all fell away in the second.

Not for one minute or second do I support any calls for Poch to be sacked. However, even a staunch supporter of Poch like myself found myself questioning (even before the game) his decision not to play Toby. As I say, I have not seen the game or the goals, so maybe the fault in conceding lay elsewhere, but I just could not understand why he would not have played our best players, particularly as we will not play again for another 3 weeks.

Poch has been hamstrung by the club's failure to invest in the first team. this includes lack of actual new signings combined with lack of (or reluctance to) paying Eriksen and Toby what they deserve. I seriously think Poch's insistence on playing Sanchez (and at times Foyth) is borne out of the fact that he's trying to show that we aren't reliant on Toby and that we have ready replacements. This couldn't be further from the truth. As promising as both players are, they have a long way to go before they can be fit to lace Toby's boots.

Therefore, Poch does share some of the blame for our recent decline.

He now needs to bag the table about needing to sign new quality players and stop letting the board off the hook. He also needs to drop players like Eriksen who are not performing and those that are performing (like Toby) should be played each game. Poch has worked wonders for our club, but it is time for him to get tough with the players and the board.

1 point from 12.. soon to be 1 point from 15.... I still have faith in Poch, but any manager in the division delivering that form would be under pressure, and for half the teams in the league that would be a sackable offence, rightly or wrongly.

obviously I'm not saying sack Poch, but he should be under pressure, because investment or not, there is no way that what we have available isn't good enough to get a point out of burnley and Southampton.

what the fack has happened since Kane has come back. defending like caaaants every game, apart from Dortmund (which makes it all the more frustrating), and attacking players look to be on the beach.

looks like they are not bothered for any game that's not a CL match...

I'm waiting for today's quote from a player...

'we need to learn from this and show some character'

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Every manager in the division would be under pressure with that sort of return. Cannot work out why Poch is not.

Because of his record over the last five years rather than over the last few weeks?
