Bielsa Press Conference: Pre-Reading

[Bamford and Phillips start, unchanged team]

Bielsa is here

Let's see what he has to say...

Bielsa on Bristol City win

We just won by one goal of difference. In the last minutes of the game the opponent was close to our box and we couldn't prevent this.

Bielsa on recent pick up in form

We've had results at the right moments. But the most important thing is not what has happened in the past but what happens in the future.

Reading?

The offensive players are fast. The midfielders are good. They have a strong physical defence and they use the ball well.

Bamford?

Yes. It is the same group and same starting eleven.

Nice to have Berardi back?

Berardi always makes the observers satisfied.

Do you look at the table?

I'm focused on winning the game tomorrow. I don't take into account the possible consequences of a win. Our first goal is to win the game then we will occupy the position that it will allow us.

Thoughts on the violence at Birmingham yesterday?

You find violent people everywhere in every country in all activities. You have violent acts depending on how satisfied or unsatisfied the citizens are. And it also depends on how important the leisure activities are for them. A person that does the thing we saw yesterday. Expresses a serious of frustrations that aren't necessarily linked to football. The more satisfaction you have in your personal life means you don't need to do this act.

Jack Clarke in the Under-23s?

He will play today. And then we will see how he feels and we'll see if he plays on Thursday.

Liam Cooper - he's a leader?

The fact that he represents his team-mates is a virtue itself. It is not up to me to describe the qualities the players see in Liam. I can tell you what I am impressed about. You can't find a better professional than him. He feels love for his profession apart from the fact it is his job. He is generous and prioritises the needs of his team-mates before his own needs.

Has he improved?

The skills that he is showing are the same ones I saw last season.

Cooper and Jansson partnership?

From an individual point of view they are playing at a very high level. They are two players with many skills. When Berardi had to play with one or the other he had the same efficiency. When Ayling and Phillips had to play as the two central backs they played well too.

Could any of your players cope in the Premier League?

I am not ready to make this kind of comparisons now. I haven't analysed it. I can tell you any player that plays for Leeds now they could play without any problem for the two European teams I coached for some time - Marseille and Athletic Bilbao.

Sheffield United - a distraction?

I don't think so - the points of tomorrow's game are very important for us. You never start looking to the next game before finishing the previous one.

Injured players? Roofe, Forshaw?

They are improving every day. They are making the positive steps that we thought they were going to take. We are following their improvement.

Lewis Baker - your assessment?

I wanted him to stay in our team. I didn't agree with the fact that he left. He didn't need my agreement to leave but in his contract he had that option. I always had a lot of confidence in his skills.

Sol!.

The fact that Cooper was picked for the second time by the players as captain says what sort of person he is thought as!..

Respect he clearly has and seems to be happy to give what he gets!..

Wonderful stuff, Sol...and Marcelo.
No wonder they love him down at Newells.
Probably our best signing since Strach.
