Liverpool-the benchmark for progress

A Liverpool/Spurs article- what could go wrong?

I think that now Liverpool have overtaken us and we aren't really rivals anymore we can be friends again

The point of the article is basically saying FSG have got everything right where ENIC have gone wrong over the last few years. Both clubs have been in a similar position the last few years. Great manager and a lot of top players but a few holes in key areas preventing them from taking the next step.

FSG have realised this and have backed their manager paying what many perceived as over the top on VVD and Allison for example. However, they understand long term the value of getting these top players in will more than pay for itself as the team becomes more successful and earns more money. They are tying up all their top players to long term deals paying market rate.

I know we have the stadium, but this has been budgeted and saved for over the past ten years and levy is always keen to tell us it won't affect transfer funds. At Liverpool, they just knocked out an extension for £100m over the summer and nobody batted an eyelid.

Now if we can scrape top 4 this season next summer is our last chance to rectify the mistakes of the previous seasons. ENIC need to realise we are at the tipping point. Back Poch and invest in the top players we need and we can progress like Liverpool and become genuine contenders.

I suspect Leicester are closer to Spyrs than some fans would like to admit. Wolves too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Right ok then mate. Wolves who have spent 1 season in the Prem in about 10 years and you are comparing them to Spurs who are a consistent CL team and currently one of the top 4 sides in the country and have been for years. We s*** all over Wolves and Leicester.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
3 yrs in a row is not a consistant CL team, you need to rack up a few more years imo and by the end of the month, you may not even be a top 4 side
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many years does it need to be, mate?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
21 years in a row mate
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why did you pick this number, AFC is your team?

Just a little joke, in reference to Arsenal.
Joking aside, personally, i think you should be in the CL for at least 5 yrs consistently, before you name yourselves a consistent CL team.

Sandy must be an allmighty embarrassment to genuine spurs fans on this board. He changes his opinion like the wind, then moans when these views are challenged.

It was the same last season tbf, bigging Poch up before stinking the place up with his pochoutness, then changing his mind as the season started, blowing smoke rings up his jacksy. Now he wants him out.

What a shambles.

Answering the OP.

The difference between us now is purely down to lack of investment in the playing squady Levy. O

You look at our club now, FSG really have done a fantastic job. Amazing financial results published a month ago, despite the continued backing of the manager in the transfer market. Klopp has bought very well and the improvement on the pitch is there to see.

Poch has done a great job at Spurs but he has taken them as far as he can without the financial backing.

Whether he will get it this summer I honestly don't know, what with the new stadium to pay off. I'm pretty certain he will have extremely little to work with if you don't finish in the top 4. Could be a disaster long term if you don't make it.

First of all, congratulations to Spurs for still being in the CL. However, I think that this tournament is drawn out too long. Too many games. too may injuries, too many opportunities for yellow/red cards and player fatigue. Decisions are being made based upon money and not the welfare of the players.

Maybe wait until we win something before this article. Still a chance you could win the CL and we win nothing. You easily dispatched of Germany's 2nd best team. I'd say we are very similar in terms of progress you're just having an off season while we're doing well.
