Top 6 Performance

If the season ends as the bookies predict how would you rank the Top 6 clubs seasons. (Exclude Europe as all clubs are still in)

Final league position:
1. City
2. Liverpool
3. Spurs
4. Arsenal
5. Chelsea
6. Man Utd

I'd rank:
1. City - they were expected to win the league before the season began, but nevertheless to be the only team with 2 trophies and potentially FA Cup too puts them top.

2. Arsenal - first season with a new manager, largely written off for top 4 before the season. To finish on top 4 would be a great end. For perspective, Klopp finished 7th in his first season and Mourinho 6th.

3. Spurs - while I do think they are likely to drop from top 4 if they do finish 3rd after no investment it would be a great achievement. Although the no trophies thing might hang over them.

4. Liverpool - had a great season to push City all the way but ultimately 2nd is no better than 3rd or 4th, and they sacrificed all cups in their title push. A promising season but think the 2 above would've had better if they finish as expected.

5. Man Utd - A great run of form since Ole took over and while finishing 6th has shown promise for next season. Not getting top 4 would be a huge disappointment however.

6. Chelsea - not getting top 4 would add to their already disastrous position of not being able to sign players, the Hazard situation, the seemingly discontent Sarri. Even if they did get Top 4 still think they would place last unfortunately!

Thoughts?

A lot of people didn't see us as even challenging top 4 before the season started though. Our expected fight was with Everton rather than United.

Think we’re about where we should be, maybe over exceeding due to our good start. Still on the chase for top 4 despite a new manager, new pholosophy, under par squad, and got a cup final and in quarters of Europa.

Still been frustrating though.

The execution of the WUM was poor, too obvious.

I mean second no better than 3rd or 4th. It's demonstrably better

Arsenal second might get a nibble though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not a WUM. 2nd grants nothing more than slightly more PL money than 3rd or 4th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So it is better then.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
'Ultimately no better' meaning in the long run that slight difference in PL money is meaningless?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But it indicates a better performance during the course of the season. Correct?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Placing second means nothing. You dont get a trophy for it and it is not always indicative of the future therfore ultimately it is no different from the similar tangible benefits of 3rd and 4th

United finished second and this season are out of Top 4 atm. 2nd is not indicative of future placement.

I'd of been one of them to be fair

He's done well with what is a limited squad. Class strikers then patchy everywhere.

Imagine what he would do with the cash Chelsea, United, City or Liverpool spend. Dreams i imagine happen all over North London.

Ultimately 2nd is one place better than 3rd and two places better than 4th.

10 years down the line does anyone care if you finished 2nd or 4th? 1st comes with a trophy whereas the other 3 places come with benefit of CL.

Thats the true meaning of ultimately.

It's not.

2nd is better than 3rd or 4th. I'm not debating fact.

========

We have a quarter final CL game vs Porto.

He had that type of cash at PSG and lost the league to a squad that cost less than a fair few of his players individually.
