Tractor Boys V Forest Match Thread

'Martin O'Neill will be the seventh different Nottingham Forest manager that Paul Lambert has faced in his last seven league games against them - Davies, Freedman, Williams, Montanier, Warburton and Karanka the previous six.'

So that's probably why we can't string a run together then?

Will Keane, on loan from Hull, scored the only goal in Ipswich's last win against Rotherham on the 12th January.

'Ipswich Town could welcome back James Collins and Collin Quaner for the visit of Nottingham Forest.

Both returned to training on Thursday after Quaner (thigh strain) missed the midweek draw with Bristol City, while Collins (calf) has been out of action since the start of the month.'

They look nailed on for relegation, irrespective of any helping hand extended by Forest tomorrow.

Robinson is available again and that might allow Mon to pick a better balanced midfield. Two games in five days was obviously too much for Pele and Ansarifard was lucky not to see red. I don't expect Grabban to make the squad, however Cash would be a useful addition on the bench, as would Arvin Appiah.

I didn't find the Villa game pretty to watch with our midfield being cut out of the game by our own tactics and having to out tackle the Villa midfield in order to win the ball back.

Let's hope for a better performance & result tomorrow.

There is something in what you say about Carvalho. The passes he fails to make are sometimes due to other players not being on his wavelength and seeing the pass as well. Osborn links up well with him and so does Grabban. And you're right to say that he would be a better player with good players around him but you can say that about any player in any team game. But I still think we need a creative midfielder who can create but also dog it out when needed. E.g. Grealish and McGinn last Wednesday.

I think we could have Byram next season. WHU don't want him and who else would have him given his injury record?

Joe Lolley has tweeted that the Villa talk is rubbish and he signed a four year deal for a reason. We've heard that sort of talk from lots of players tho' and the twitter account could be a fake of course; but I'm hopeful.

I think Carvalho can be allowed a season to get the measure of Championship football, can’t he? Look beyond the price tag and realise he is still young and inexperienced. He was overvalued by around £3/4m realistically and that will be the “Mendes tax”. I think there is potential there but he needs to toughen up.

The speculation around Lolley to Villa was only going to increase after playing them last week. I think he still has plenty to learn yet. I don’t think he is ready for a big move yet but that won’t stop his agent whispering in his ear.

Colback will have plenty of suitors and MoN faces a hard sell persuading him to sign on. A surprise appearance in the play offs might help but that is looking increasingly likely. Other than that, they will have to offer him a seriously good contract, I reckon.

I meant increasingly unlikely, of course. 😬

Apparently Colback has another year left on his Newcastle contract, so we could try for another season long loan, or better still just buy him outright. He needs to stop picking up so many bookings, but is absolutely essential to us. Still can’t see why Yacob hasn’t featured recently.

Morninchile I actually think that side is not too far off.

We could perhaps do with a better keeper although we have conceded fewer goals than half the teams above us. This despite our CB problems. So I cant see that that is urgent.

We will have Joe Worrall in our back line; hopefully he will be better and play more games than any of the CBs we have at the moment.

I understand why the fans chant for Carvalho - he is our most creative player after Lolley. He can see a pass and often he can make that pass. But more often he can't. He is not good enough for a team hoping to be promoted from the Championship. He cannot run with the ball, he cannot go past an opponent, he has no great pace, he can't tackle, he cant head. He is not brave enough to get in the box where it hurts. A loan back to Portugal is the best thing next season where if he does well someone may offer to give us most of the £13 million we spent on him.

We need another striker who can at least double Murphy's scoring rate of 3 in 16 (Patrick Bamford if Leeds go up).

So I reckon with two quality additions in the summer (no Olympiakos cast-offs please); better luck with injuries, fewer suspensions, and some half decent refs when we need them we could be in with a chance.

Have to disagree about Carvalho after watching the match replay on ifollow.

Won the ball in his own half with a good tackle, breezed past a couple of players and almost put Cash in with a pass that was just cut out by the fullback.

Sounds like Roy Keane might have taken him to one side. If that sort of thing continues I'm prepared to admit I'm wrong.

Need him to do it consistently next season.

Messi floats one over the goalkeeper and it's all over the internet; it's a wonder goal, Messi is a god.

Jack Colback does the same to the Villa keeper and he has mis hit a cross.

It's time some people took their noses out from where they don't belong.
