Loftus-Cheek's rise this season, kudos to

Sarri?

I'm still to be convinced he is a starter in the long run and think he is more suited to being the 4th CM/first rotation player but I have to give the boy his dues, he has improved ten fold from a tactical perspective this season, makes a lot more general impact on a game and is improving his discipline.

Aswell as Ruben, how much credit does Sarri deserve? He seems to have succeeded where both Jose and Conte failed and made him a better all round player. Is it merely the fact Sarri puts more effort into coaching the rough diamond types instead of instinctively wanting to find a solution in the market or has he benefited from Ruben growing older and getting that season at Palace under his belt? Or a bit of both?

Some credit to Sarri I think in maybe forcing him to work on his off the ball movement more and tenacity in defence. However this could probably have been done with him playing more minutes but also have to factor in his injuries, not an ideal season to instil him into the side.

But I think the main difference with RLC is that he’s just improved mentally and matured his style, he’s waay more assertive, aggressive in his play in comparison to before he went to Palace. I think he finally knows what player he wants to be. Before Palace I would’ve said e wouldn’t make it with us, and thought he was overrated. But at Palace I began to change my mind and he’s gone from strength to strength with the World Cup and his performances this season, he can defo make it with us.

I do have doubt on whether he can be a true superstar, starter for a top team..or whether he’s destined for club and country to carry on being more of an impact sub/full in player for CM and wing. His injuries pla into way I think that, but I also think there’s a slight correlation with him he looking very good off bench against tired legs but looking bit more average when starting. However of course hasn’t had a run of games and can further improve.

Delighted for his development so far

I do like him in this set up. He offers something different, more dynamic, than Kovacic or Barkley. I said at the start of the season I couldn't see him getting a look in cos his style's too bullish for Sarri, but that's turned out to be the very thing that's made him stand out to me. He's like pineapple on a pizza, the perfect contrast

That loan at Palace did help him. Helped him hone his game somewhat, before that Jose was using him as an athletic hard man, Conte was talking about him being a potential CF, etc... he needed a full playing season being utilized in a couple of roles to find himself.

Surprised how much he improved with more game time.

Tbf he’s had some ongoing and one off horrible injuries already. Could have been a real star imo. Next year is very important for him. If he wants to be a regular England and top player this next year is vital. Let’s hope he gets more game time now he’s injury free.

Definitely have to give some of the credit to Sarri. The difference between RLC now and at the start of the season is almost night and day. But it’s also down to him and his determination to improve, seems to have a good mentality.

If he can overcome his injury problems I’m confident he’ll be an absolute top player. Actually reminds me a bit of Pogba.

KK i was still sceptical as recently as November, it was December and his positive performances over the month in all games bar Leicester i started to reaccess my opinion on him.
