England qualifiers confusion

Why are we starting qualifiers this coming week for Euro 2020 if we've reached the Nation's League final in Portugal this June ???

What happens if we win the nation's league and secure a place at the finals? Do the results of the qualifiers coming up this week then get scrapped?

It does seem a bit silly to entering a qualifying phase if in a few months time we won't actually need to be in one should we win the competition in Portugal. Or am I not understanding this whole thing correctly?

Winning the Nations League would not qualify England for the Euro's.

If they fail to finish in the top 2 in their group, they will have the safety net of a play-off in March.

That's what the stupid structure it means for England.

According to Harry Kane, winning the Nations League trumps the semi final of the World Cup.then

Hard to argue with Harry on that.

I get his point. I really enjoyed the World Cup and how England faired. But I wouldn't say I celebrated getting to a semi final, where as you would celebrate winning the Nations League, just as you would the League cup.

I'm glad Harry is of this mind and not purely happy just to finish 'near the top' and think he's the dogs 8ollocks for it.

Exactly, if he's of that mindset you can see why he won't sit his career out at Spurs too.

20 teams qualify courtesy of finishing 1st or 2nd in the Euro Qualifiers.

The remaining 4 teams come from the 4 Nations Leagues.

These teams are already guaranteed a spot, if they qualify through the Euro qualifiers, their Nations League play-off spot goes to the next best ranked team in their Nations League section.

24 teams

geez the Scottish might even qualify

maybe not though

Hard to imagine the world cup felt like that much of a success to the players given they were actually beaten three times in seven games
