Ed, I understand his and your points about the need for retaining quality. My issue was not about that, it was about the absurd statement that we need to more £100 mill players to compete with two teams that have never spent more than £70ish mill on any player.

Just the usual dramatic hyperbolethat I take umbrage to.

I can see what he’s saying, though. I just don’t think he’s put across his point very well.

If we consider the makeup of the squad, both quality and age wise, and the inexperience of the coach in building a squad capable of challenging at the very top, then what we are lacking a top class players in their prime in a few vital areas.

Being able to sign those calibre of players will cost a lot of money, if we can even attract them. And even then it will be difficult to take such a huge leap to reach City’s level.
