Raheem Sterling

I remember a “most improved" award in the closed season awards of a couple of kids sides I played on in my childhood. Surely Raheem would be dominating that one, if there were a top flight equivalent.

His development under Guardiola has been phenomenal, given he began coaching Sterling at arguably his lowest point - after taking more than his fair share of the blame for England’s disappointing outing in the previous Euros.

Johan Cruyff said “statically on average most players will have the ball for 3 minutes, it’s what you do in the other 87 that determines if you’re a good player or not"

Sterling’s work rate and desire to get into the box and link up/ score is second to none really, and it’s intelligent running at that. Even in World Cup games where perhaps it didn’t quite happen for him, the difference when he came off, we became flat and the build up became laborious. See Croatia. Its finally starting to come together for him in the international camp though too and hopefully he can continue his scoring form into the real competitions, because ultimately, he will need goals if he is to win over his remaining detractors.

He and Aguero are the first two names on the steam sheet at the moment, out of our attackers anyway, and if they can put away more goals than Salah and Mane between them, then I can’t see the title going anywhere but City.

Not sure anyone is worked up.

Although it is a bit odd that the OP is desperately trying to prove that he didn't say Sterling is one of the most improved players in the league.

He's perfectly entitled to that opinion if that is indeed what he thinks, but he seemed rather upset by the suggestion.

Out of curiosity do you think Cristiano Ronaldo deserves praise for becoming a better player at Real, or no because cost 80m

There is a lot of articles out there that have discussed this very topic.

For example, Football365 currently has a page on its website labelling Sterling as the most improved player this season.

And Rio Ferdinand labelled Sterling as the most improved player last season.

He hadn’t been with us long when there were rumours of Madrid. And to be honest at the time I wouldn’t of been massively fussed if he did leave. Fast forward a couple of years and he’s so important to us now. Anyway Ripley not seen you here for a while I hope you are well.

So?

The OP seems to be outraged at the suggestion that he thinks Sterling is one of the most improved players in the league - not sure why. Not sure what his opinion actually is because he's more interested in a petty argument.

Why have you responded to my comment with a moan about the OP?

Well I assumed you were joining in the debate about whether Sterling is the most improved player in the league, or one of.

I was just pointing out that it turns out it's not actually a debate, because the OP denied saying it.

It’s surely a subjective comment. I do think Sterling has vastly improved, but I personally wouldn’t like to say whether he is one of the most improved or indeed the most improved player this (or last) season, as I haven’t watched enough football to qualify such a statement.

But others are saying this. Hence the examples in my first comment.

Reading your earlier comments in this thread, you would seemingly disagree? Maybe not so much with me, but with, say Ferdinand and football365?

Of course, never said otherwise.

I took it from the OP and personally I think it's laughable.

But then the OP bizarrely denied he even thinks it, so it was a non debate.

Although it was a reasonable interesting discussion with melton as he saw things from a different perspective.
