Great to see young John-Jules score in the win against the old enemy yesterday. Only 18 he plays with and has the mental strength of someone much much older.
"It was a good feeling because all of the hard work I've been putting in with the under-18s, the under-23s, my whole life, and then to finally come here… it's paid off. I'm proud and I showed the gaffer that he could trust me.
"I scored a similar goal for the under-18s and a similar situation popped up. I just tried to keep it cool, do the same thing and it came off."
"He's (Lacazette) been telling me to enjoy the experience and he’s a very good mentor to me," said the teenager. "He’s always telling me what I’ve done right and always making lots of jokes too. I love it."
Hopefully TJJ will have more opportunities soon, and give Emery a happy problem to solve in fitting in and allowing more chances for the gifted group of youngsters emerging from Hale End.
