Gazza & Ginola to play this weekend

Delighted to see Ginola back to good health after his heart issues & of course great to see Gazza sounding like he's doing well. Heard him on TS yesterday, sounded as "with it" as he has in years !!!!

Should be a fantastic event.... Gutted not to be going !!!!

For everyone going.... "enjoy"

My legends team from. Who I have seen play ,, Berkinshaw manager defenders. King Roberts Rose mabbut. Midfield hoddle ginola bale ardiles strikers Archibald Allen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Graham Roberts huh. Remember him launching himself two footed at Charlie Nicholas and knocking him over the advertising sidings at Highbury. Think he only got a yellowgood times
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's why he's a legend
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember (before the cameras were everywhere) Steve Williams knocking out Norman Whiteside when the ref's back was turned right in front of the North bank. Whiteside lay sparko on the floor as Williams received a big cheer and trotted off up the pitch like nothing had happened.

Not very PC in this day and age but loved it all the same.

Before even reading the comments I was going to offer what I thought would be an unpopular opinion - that I don’t consider Gazza to be a Spurs legend. Yeah he was a good player, scored that free kick against Arsenal and was a bit of a character, but he didn’t even play 100 games for us and I don’t think he really has an affiliation with the club or fans. Even the FA Cup final win, he only played the opening stages of the game before getting himself injured. And that’s before we get into his antics off the pitch. I don’t hold him in a fraction of the regard that I do Hoddle, Mabbutt or King for example.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just to add to that, having had a quick gander at the stats, he was with us 4 years (technically 3 as his last season he was out injured and had already agreed terms with Lazio) and scored 19 goals. Just over six goals a season - nothing to write home about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair those are just his league stats. He actually scored 33 goals in 115 games.

It wasn't just about goals with Gazza. He was able to occupy 2 sometimes 3 players and still come out on top, giving so much space for the rest of the team. Only problem was a lot of the rest of the team were average in that era.

It was still down to him that got that team a winners medal and was the key player like Ginola was in 1999 league cup.

I do agree though that there are other players that should rightfully be held in a higher regard and his personal life has rather tarnished his career.

No mention of Gary Linekar, huh? And Gazza will always be a Spurs legend, end of.
Also add to the list, Garth Crooks, Gary Mabbut, Ossie Ardeles, Ricky Vila and Ray Clemence

I was to young when we won the Fa cup in 1991, but from what I heard and the videos I watched growing up, Gazza single handily won us that Fa cup. In all the rounds prior to his the cup final ban, he was instrumental in it. I have watched videos and totally agree. So for that alone he deserves legendary status.

He wasn’t banned for the final Don, he started the game but got injured early doors making a reckless challenge (the free kick from which also resulted in them opening the scoring!).

I’m not saying Gazza wasn’t a quality player and I’m well aware he did good things for us. I’m just saying I think legend status gets bandied around too much. We can remember guys as top quality players that have worn the spurs shirt without having to define everyone as legends; Gazza has that iconic Italia 90 thing going on which adds weight to his status.

He should never have signed terms with Lazio, he was doing well with us. And if only he’d started that final with a cooler head. He was lucky not to have been red carded even before he lunged at Charles. That was it for him, the beginning of the end.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok yeh sorry mate the reckless challenge I mean. I’m getting mixed up with the Italia 90. He was going to be banned for the final of that weren’t he ? Anyway, my point still stands mate. Single handily he won us the Fa cup that year. I remember my family telling me Gaza was unbelievable in that particular Fa cup triumphant throughout the whole tournament and dragged us to the final. If that don’t deserve legendary status alone mate I don’t know what does.
