From the start there looked to be a big gap in quality and league points. Derby passed the ball around at high speed which Rotherham’s defence found bewildering, though not without a scare or two for the Derby goal. One quick break down the left wing resulted in a fine pass to Ryan Williams which was just deflected enough by Richard Keogh. Williams collided violently with Roos left hand post and was out of it for a few minutes. On ten minutes, Derby won a penalty when a tricky run by Mount ended by him being tripped. The ref blew without hesitation and Waghorn stepped up to smash the ball down the middle whilst the goalkeeper dived to his left.
It was just the start Derby needed and Derby’s superiority continued and on 40 minutes, an interchange between Mount and Wilson and a superb Wilson cross for Johnson to score a second with precision header that gave the goalie no chance. Two minutes later Rotherham’s downfall was completed with another fine goal by Waghorn heading in a lovely cross by Dwayne Holmes.
The Rams went in at half-time deservedly 3 goals in front. They ought to have been 4 or 5 with Tom Lawrence, playing very well, missing as well as Waghorn. Tom Lawrence had a great opportunity but instead of a shot he tried to lay on a goal for Mount and the chance was lost. But it was good to see such generosity towards a team-mate just back from a long injury.
The second half continued as the first and only a few minutes in, Mason Mount did get his goal after a cross which Jayden Bogle headed into his path. 4-0 and still plenty of time left for increasing Derby’s GD. At this point the only blot on The Rams’ copybook came when a corner from the left was flighted perfectly for Tomori, Keogh and Roos to think it was the other defender’s ball. Richard Wood was pleased to head it past Roos. Derby’s superiority continued and a few minutes passed until - on 62 minutes - Dwayne Holmes scored from a Mason Mount pass to make it 5-1. On 70 minutes some get work by Bogle teed up Tom Lawrence and The Rotherham goalkeeper brought him dow for Derby’s second penalty. Waghorn made no mistake - this time slotting the ball neatly inside the left post.
Who played well? All of them - really well. Mount seemed to make a huge difference to the team’s (and especially Wilson’s) confidence. Roos Keogh and Tomori as well as Malone were in control and strong. They were very impressive. The ref was good too, I thought Mount was man of the match but there were plenty of contenders. Because of his hat-trick, Waghorn was adjudged MOTM. Whatever - they were superb as a team and after Middlesborough lost they’re just in the play-offs.

Hate London away days. Expensive beer, traffic jams or numerous train connections for south London grounds. Can't think of anything about London that a thermos nuclear device wouldn't improve. Much prefer northern grounds, (Leeds, Old Trafford, Forest and Hillsborough excepted).

Thermos? thermo, bloody auto correct or bombs in a vacuum flask.

It's a good comment 2W. Ince and Bent didn't perform to their potential as expected but when Judas McClaren returned he got Bent scoring goals and Ince chipping in too.

Queens Park Rangers 1 - 2 Bolton Wanderers.
I think Wally has lost his magic touch.

Oh dear oh dear, I've lost him his job and I was so looking forward to seeing him on Easter Monday.

The prices Leeds charge for a match ticket it still works out better value going to London. Traffic jams in London? Well they’ve never bothered us with going by train. Fulham, Charlton, Millwall and QPR are easier to get to by train Han places like Burnley, Bolton, Blackburn, Wigan, Preston Hull Middlesborough.
Prices for beer in London don’t seem to much more than in Derby tbf

Due to London being the centre of everything in the UK (unfortunately), its a bloody sight easier to get to than anywhere else!

I’m going with my lads Scouse, though I hate St Andrews. I’ll keep my ears open for a ridiculous accent.

Scouse, can’t get a train back from most mid week away games apart from when we play in London. The last train out of London after a mid week away game is 11.15pm
