https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2019/04/derby-county-reveal-201718-financial-results you are a genius mr Morris πππππππππππππππ Derby County have today announced their financial results for the 2017/18 season.
The Ramsβ results for the year running from 1st July 2017 to 30th June 2018 report the clubβs best-ever Championship turnover, in non-parachute payment years, of Β£29.6m, increasing by Β£600,000 compared to the previous year.
The accounts show a profit of Β£14.6m, in comparison to a loss of Β£7.9m in the previous year, largely due to the profit on the sale and lease back of Pride Park Stadium and profit on player registrations.
In the financial year, Pride Park Stadium was sold to a separate company owned by Executive Chairman Mel Morris CBE. The Football Club continues to enjoy the use of the Stadium through a long-term lease arrangement which prioritises the clubβs football, retail, hospitality and other related activities. The transaction opens the opportunity for utilising the Stadium for other large-scale entertainment and events.
Derbyβs intangible assets rose to Β£50.5m, Β£7.9m more than the previous year, and the financial year displayed a profit on player registrations of Β£3.7m.
Player investment saw Tom Lawrence, Tom Huddlestone and Curtis Davies recruited on permanent contracts. The profit came from player sales and add-ons, in addition to the compensation received for the departure of the previous first-team manager.
The clubβs results continue to be within the profit and sustainability targets set out by the English Football League for the 2017/18 season.
Broadcast, ticketing and commercial revenue rose by a combined Β£300,000 in comparison to the 2016/17 financial results.
Total staff costs across the club increased from Β£34.6m to Β£40.5m, a rise of Β£5.9m.

Some of us really like Martin and Bryson but there is no doubt that both would have generated a large fee not so long ago, and both now have little to no value and have cost millions in wages without adding much to the team in the last couple of seasons. Yet Hughes was sold for very little. Deciding when to sell your better players is difficult and fans don’t want to be a “selling” club but all clubs sell players and you need to sell when they are at peak value. Brentford have been superb at this and even Forest have cashed in nicely on players like Brereton and Burke.
We may be coming full circle back to the kind of situation when Clough was in charge and when we had a lot of high-earners near the end of their careers. Under Clough we signed a few real bargains but also a lot of dross. He did show though that it is possible to assemble a decent group of players but he reached his ceiling in coaching them. Lampard has the advantage of having access to better loanees from the top clubs and maybe more willingness to look abroad. Probably his coaching level is potentially higher than Clough’s. Finding the players is key though, recognising those young players who might improve into very good ones and we have been very poor indeed at that in recent years.

Wise words it seems to me. Just examine the sale of Will. Hughes. He was at the start of what looked very much like a distinguished career. And yet we (Rowatt and MM?) allowed him to go for a pittance. How could that have come about? We did get a good price for Hendrick and Vydra. Hendrick has been missed but I can't say Vydra has. The CM point with Fulham is well made.

I'm glad I don't use the same IFA as MM.

Only two tickets left for the game at St Andrews, should be a good atmosphere with 2,998 Derby fans moaning.
Come on Ang, time you had a day out, get a ticket.

Eyup Scouse
I was tempted by the 3 for the price of 2 last 3 home games offer, but with the Bank Hol w/es, the stop-over costs were extortionate.
Decided to go for W. Brom and the resulting playoff home games
Do you fancy WBA as the penultimate home fling of the season ?

No mate only 3 open now. The Royal Oak shut about 3 years ago. We will be drinking in Putney Bridge before the game.
