This is if we win our remaining games. Bit pointless to some, but getting 80 plus points is a big thing. Must be over 10 years ago since we last hit that number, and although we've not been anywhere near City and Liverpool to challenge the title, this is a solid base to build of for next season.
Realistically looking at our PL fixtures Leicester, Watford, Everton and Wolves away are the stand out tough games. But we are more than good enough to get all 4 wins, but 3 wins and a draw against those wouldn't be the worst thing in the world so long we win the rest. 80 points also guarantees top 3.
The momentum to get CL places is definitely with us. Spurs are under immense pressure, more so than any other club. They need CL football with their new stadium. At this moment, I see Arsenal and utd taking 3rd and 4th.
Another thing to add, with 63 points, we've matched last season's total, with 7 games to go. Massive improvement there.

What a confused and contradictory comment

Not in the least. I’m saying, he’s getting praise just for looking like he may lead you back to the Wenger comfort zone of top 4 - for which Wenger was berated and ultimately hounded out. And why? Because you think that’s the stepping stone to going one further than Wenger could and challenging for a title? With Emerys limitations, the level of opposition and lack of transfer kitty that simply isn’t happening. He will achieve nothing more than latter era Wenger.

But it isn't what happened.
Wenger kept us in the top 4 when we were cash strapped by the stadium financing.
Then, in 2013, we got released from a lot of that burden and spent big. But instead of that leading to improvement, the more we spent the worse we got in the league and CL. Until finally we were in the EL and finishing 5th then 6th.
Emery took over a squad that looked a long way off top 4. Not many predicted we would even be in the fight, some even suggesting a fight for 6th with Everton.
There is no lack of transfer kitty, stop believing what you read in the Sun. We actually have had a greater transfer kitty than Liverpool over recent seasons, with them selling to boost that kitty.

Do Arsenal fans not find it a bit ridiculous that you’re all willing and praising Emery to get you back to a level that you all berated Wenger for keeping you at for years - CL qualification? Because that’s as far as it’s gonna go; you look at what Arsenal are prepared to offer Emery in the transfer market, do you really think he’s gonna be able to have you challenging Man City for the title? Not happening, same as it’s not happening for us. Emery will amount to Wenger MKII.

Of course we aren't going to match City's spending but if we are in the champions league we give ourselves a better chance of attracting better players. Abu Dhabi ain't gonna hang around forever at City they will lose interest just look at Chelsea. Or UEFA will finally get them on FFP. If either of these scenarios happen in the near future we need to be ready to capitalize.

He's getting praised because he took a team that finished 5th then 6th and has us 3rd. Nobody expected us to challenge for the league and most fans thought we would miss out on top 4 this season. If we get CL then I do think we will invest a decent amount.

All good so far but fairly or unfairly Emery's first year will be judged by the result of the next 5 away games.

Ace mate, I'd be more worried about Spurs not making any progression this season on the pitch St Totteringham day is soon upon us

So who is in 3rd place right now?

You have a good point but fans will be in denial and say they only called for his head when we dropped out of top four. They won't have the fortitude or backbone to admit they were calling Wenger out and flying Wenger out planes when we finished 2nd

Godfather we were going back under wenger. He had his time and should have gone after the 3 fa cups he won recently. He could have gone after Hull, Villa or Chelsea games but stayed on to long which eventually saw him sacked
After so long, change was required.

You say you were going backwards under Wenger when this season Arsenal are having significantly fewer shots and fewer on target and allowing significantly more shots and shots on target than last season. Probably the biggest change between 1 season of football but luck is complete opposite to last season.
Emery is just a lucky manager this season. Its better to be lucky than good they say.
