Not Good Enough

I think there has been a massive overreaction from United fans over the last few games. We always knew Wolves would be tough.

Ole has done a great job to even get back in it. We haven't lost out on Top 4 due to the last few games, we lost it by only winning 7 of our first 17(Thanks Jose).

Either way we need a overhaul. One thing I will say is I trust Ole with his judgement, as he has already shipped out Fellaini and Valencia. There is more deadwood still left to be moved on.

Young, Matic, Jones, Rojo, Mata and Sanchez all need to be moved on as soon as possible. We can't fix everything in one window unfortunately. I don't think we are TOO far away, maybe my judgement is clouded.

That will be potentially 8 first team players to be moved on since Ole has joined, not all of them will leave this Summer. I'm more worried about losing Pogba and DDG. Both have been playing erratically recently, possibly have their heads turned, contracts being sorted.

Still don't think Top 4 race is over, especially the form Spurs and Chelsea are in currently.

I agree with a lot what you said. Felix from Benfica right? Heard and seen very good things about him.

I'd love Toby, I feel him and Lindelof would be great. Bailly/Smalling as back ups not very bad options either.

Lozano for that RW spot otherwise? I can't think of too many RW's.

I'd love Dalot to start RB from now on, I think he will only get better once he learns his role.

What reservations do you have about Rabiot? His attitude?

Yeah, only his attitude and his momma

Wherever he goes next he'll end up at the very least kicking up a storm approaching his first contract renewal.

Lozano I quite like, but I think we'll be looking for a player to play narrow off the right if we're shopping for a right-sided forward. Basically a Mata replacement/Lingard competition, but to play the same kind of role.

If we want an out-and-out wide player to play on the right on occasion, given that we're not going to use one so often it should be Chong. Or Dalot can be used.

We're not going to spend big money on a more orthodox right winger/wide forward only for them to play once a month.

I would like Chong and Gomes to be thrown into the deep-end. Even Greenwood.

But they won't be consistent, as many young players aren't. If we are looking to re-build for a couple of years, would like a bit more experience there. They can be back up.

The Rabiot situation I've given him the benefit of doubt, due to PSG weren't offering him a contract til late, and I feel as if he thought he wasn't valued enough. But the warning signs are there

Oh you know it Rosso.

CL football, free flowing attack and Klopp hugs.

It's nailed on.

Our results and form of late don't come as much of a surprise.

It just wasn't possible for us to sustain the amazing run we'd been on for another couple of months for various reasons. We were showing pretty much title winning form since Ole took over up until a few weeks ago.

I'm willing to take a longer term view of things if in two or three seasons we're able to see the benefits.

I'm glad that we now know Ole has the job permanently because it makes planning for next season and beyond that bit easier. I think waiting until the end of the season would've shown yet more uncertainty and indecision and I think we've all had enough of that.

Come the end of the season Ole will have a very good idea of what he needs and what he doesn't need. We won't fix every issue the squad has in one summer but as long as we have a clear picture of how the squad will look in a couple or a few seasons time, that's fine by me if we take a more thoughtful approach.

It just feels like for the first time in a long time we're finally on the right sort of track. Here's hoping anyway.

TRS, good post, as always.

It's still only his 2nd league defeat which is astonishing to think. As you said, it wouldn't last forever. I don't think you can understate the impact he has had so far.

I do agree there's a lot to look forward to, as you said, it seems to be on the right track as in terms of what most fans want.

I think the next 2 summer transfer windows will show us a lot. I don't expect a title challenge next year, but we need to get some sort of continuity and stabilise the club for a bit, and I think Ole is the right man for the job.
