Contract negotations ongoing. Rumours are hes asking for Sanchez kinda money. Over the course of the years he has earned it, making a number of outstanding saves. But giving players £350 grand plus wages surely cant be sustainable. The club will need to find that money from somewhere. Most likely increasing match /season tickets.
There are talks of letting De Gea go for free next year. Its going to take awhile for Ole to rebuild this squad. Should he start from scratch and cash in on De Gea. Romero could replace him in the interim or maybe Henderson whos on loan at Sheffield Utd. Apparently hes having a decent season with them being currently 2nd in the championship. Anyone know how decent he is?
De Gea has been awesome last few years, been called into action numerous times. But i feel if we had better defenders he wouldnt have been needed as much. Oles has to strengthen the defence as a priority.

Biggest problem with that Baztard is that success is demanded immediately. Building for the future is more the domain of a DOF. A manager can only ever think in the short term

I never understand this notion. When you want to win titled you have to accept that at times against players like Messi, Aguero, Hazard, Ronaldo, you're going to have to rely on your goalkeeper.
Keepers like Buffon, Neuer, VDS, Cech all made their names playing in front of the best defences in the world.

We should be going out looking for the next big things, not spending hundreds of millions on players that aren't quite good enough for the CL contenders.

Absolutely agree.
Providing the fans can see the style that the manager is trying to get into the team and providing that is the football fans want to see, I think we are generally patient and forgiving.
Within reason obviously but no one is expecting a league title next year.

I understand what youre saying. I agree De Gea deserves what hes asking, hes the only player that does. But look what effect its having since Sanchez signed. What if everyone starts asking for that kind of money?
When you think of world class players like De Gea do you include Keylor Navas, Ter Stegen, Allison, Ederson? They are very good keepers but world class like Buffon VDS? Yet theyve done ok with the solid defence infront of them. If the club can afford to pay De Gea what he wants without it causing a problem in the future then they should.

But, chances are it will cause an issue, that’s the problem. It’s a can of worms they stupidly opened with Sanchez, a very short sighted move, as any fool could tell what would happen after that. Any fool except Woodward it seems.
It’s happening now. Ddg who’s worth that money, and pogba allegedly wants a huge raise (who doesn’t deserve it). There will be more.
