Man City supporters - or lack of them!!!!

Listening to Five live 606 tonight and the awful Robbie Savage who I cannot stand, the subject of the many empty Man City seat allocation (both at Wembley today and against Cardiff City midweek) came up. Nick, a Liverpool supporter, put a very good case to say that this would not happen with Liverpool and Man United because the clubs have history and a bigger fan base. Then a Man City fan came on to defend all the games they have to play at the moment and the next few weeks and the cost involved.
They are going for the quadruple, what does she expect!!?? No gain without pain. Perhaps their “money no object, we’ll buy every title" owners could subsidise their poor fans.

For a start we haven’t been unable to sell out, I think it will sell out. Again though, all you are doing is assessing it against stadium size which, if you are a matchgoing fan, you’ll realise is not a good thing

We have discussed it haven’t we?

Most City fans can’t afford to go to all the games given the club now compete in probably around 15 games more per season than we used to. City aren’t as big a club as United or Liverpool so don’t fill the gaps as easily when fans can’t go, same as any other normal club - and often same as Liverpool and United too tbf.

The op doesn’t rly go so I understand. For someone who apparently does though like yourself I would of thought you’d know better. Unless of course you are just a very committed wum, half a shilling, or a bit of both

Who’s assessing v stadium size?
The fact that you haven’t been able to sell out is the fact. If you want to throw stadium size into the debate feel free.

“Your stadium is too big for you” could be the rightful chant from away fans.

No it couldn’t. Your grounds to big for you rolls off the tongue far better.

You are, because you're talking about attendances which have grown over the past few years, but then comparing it to available seats, hence the "sell out".

Your stadium is too big for you isn't a rightful chant if there are games that sell out, it doesn't need all of them to. Having said that though, if you think thats an insult, then you can't possibly be a matchgoing fan as it's absolutely moronic to think its a good thing if it happens regularly.

What it should be is “your stadium is appropriately sized for your fan base so for most games you can get a ticket when you want to, which we can’t so quite a lot of it fans miss out”.

Not too catchy though, not sure which tune would fit it either

It’d catch on if sung to the tune of 7 nations army.

state of these city fans

You haven’t sold out your allocation for the second leg v Spurs..

Will the loss v Spurs make it more likely or less likely that the remaining seats will sell out?

No idea, I’d bought my ticket beforehand, I wouldn’t presume to know the motivations of others. We lost by more to you in the first leg and sold out last year though so I’d guess it doesn’t make much difference. You’re just saying the same thing in repeat now though despite having the logic already explained so you’re either wumming (and very dedicated with it to boot, I’m sure some will think that’s creditable...) or incredibly stupid.

You are basically back to “we have more fans than you”. Yes you do, well done (I’m not sure if you want any personal credit for it, but it seems to make you happy for some reason).

I will be there.

Not going to the Saturday league game though because I cannot be asked.
