We still don't have that DM we crave

I know everyone thought that Torreira was the guy but even with him in the team we have shipped so many goals. We are the only team not to keep a clean sheet away from home I think in the league which is a horrific stat. If Everton were clinical that would have been 3-4 nil to them. It was a complete battering

Back to Torreira, Emery doesn't actually play him as a sitting DM anymore and now deploys him much higher up the pitch which I have no idea as to why.

Yes there is an argument to suggest that a sitting DM now in the modern era has to do more than just protest the back four but for a team like us, who are constantly opened up at the back via a long ball or counter attack, a sitting DM is exactly what we need.

Just look at Idrissa Gueye today. He was absolutely everywhere and the kind of player that would walk into our team and elevate the group.

Mf as a whole is a big worry for me. The current crop is arguably the weakest we have had for years. We don't have the skillful deep lying midfielder like Cazorla anymore and we don't have the big physical midfielder that would have been ideal for a game like today

Weren't we linked with gueye in January when he was meant to be going to PSG?

My point is, we DO have the DM we have craved for years. We just don't have the CM to go along with him. That's why I'd look for a Doucoure, Ndombele type of CM rather than a DM.

Stats wise tackles interceptions clearances per game etc gueye is the best in the league along with players like ndidi n rice who have age on their side.

That said Schneiderlin was the best for 2/3 years before his move to utd and look how that turned out.

This, but we also have other issues that affects the DM role. Playing 3 at the back means no use for a DM. But we have to play 3 as we have no full backs. We also dont have a good partnership at CB. The there is the lack of width in attack. So with the players available 3 at the back is almost inevitable.

We have so many issues everywhere on the pitch. Injuries killing us again. Kos got an injury at the wrong time. Sokratis ban next. Holding longterm injured. Even Mavropanos longterm out.

Xhaka also is a big miss at the moment. Torreira' ban for 3 games .....dont get me started.

Ramsey also not reliable. Too many injuries.

Not happy with Auba performances. We got no widths at all. That's an issue we have longterm now.

The only position we shouldnt moan about is our goalkeeper. He kept us really in any type of challenge for top 4.

Auba is a concern. General play is extremely poor, probably the worst in the team

He's a goalscorer that's his thing his build up play isn't great but he's in the team to put the ball in the net. Which he will do if we get the ball to him in good areas. His record is excellent especially given we dont play to his strengths ie get the ball forward quickly. It drives me mad watching central defenders just passing it square between themselves then back to the goalkeeper. They should be being told first chance you get push the ball into midfield or into the channels for the attackers to chase.

The performance yesterday was nothing to do with a lack of a holding player.

It was down to the formation on a very small pitch. At home our wing-backs are 10 yards higher. That means we don't get outnumbered in midfield.

In away games our wing backs drop deeper so our midfield gets swamped and we can't transition the ball from back to front.

Felt like we really missed a wide option yesterday (we have all season). It was all trying to get through the middle which Everton had packed with hardworking players.

Half the time our midfield was completely cut out of the game as we lumped hopeful balls back to their keeper
