Pundits & Media "Selling" Players/Managers

I know the broadcast media likes to create stories to build interest in their programs etc. but I think it has gone way too far now.

I certainly understand the thirst for speculation during a transfer window, but I wish people would put a sock in it outside these periods.

I'm obviously not a Chelsea fan , but the way the pundits were practically "selling" Hazard to Barca or RM last night was very annoying and disrespectful to Chelsea, their fans and our league, in my opinion. Why can't they just celebrate great performances instead of putting a dampener on things all the time?

All season it's been Poch to United. Poch to RM and now Poch to AC Milan. Now the "Hazard to RM/Barca bandwagon" has started. It's really boring now.

If these transfers/moves eventually do occur, then fine, but in the meantime it would be nice if the broadcast media and their pundits would concentrate on reporting on facts and performances, rather than acting like the tabloid press.

Anyone else feel the same way?

A lot these stories stem from the players, agents, staff members and friends of these footballers, there is a massive network of people that 'sell' a story and the newspaper sensationalises it. Don't take any of it to heart.

Who reads that trash anyway?

Just buy a proper paper/online outlet.

Sky, BT and any other broadcast media outlet are just looking for content that interests or provokes a reaction. That's what gets people listening to radio or watching tv. There is so much time dedicated to football these days that it's fairly inevitable that they'll create their own content by developing speculation to the point it's blown out of proportion.

What I would say is that where football fans and media bias are concerned there is a huge element of confirmation bias.

I got fed up with the created content so rarely watch punditry outside of MotD. I just tune in to watch a match and then switch off. Works for me.

Agree we should all take these stories with a pinch of salt, and don't loose sight of the fact that 99% of the stories are simply to sell newspapers, generate TV income.
Classic example of this format is Hazard - has a great game last night, and suddenly they are selling him off to RM.

The only times these really people annoy me are:

1. They always pick on the same clubs and usually ignore the "darlings" of Liverpool and Utd, like no one is every gonna leave them.

2. Ex pros who either actually played for the club they try to dismantle, palyed for obvious rivals, or achieved very little themselves in their playing career. For example Shearer gobbing off disrespecting 6 clubs by saying City's only worry ( in the final ) is Messi. When he achieved nothing in the CL himself.

Aren't you the guy who frequently posts articles ranting about the latest gossip?

Also, you seem to be extremely selective and have already forgotten that just this week Sadio Mane has been touted as being off to Madrid............Salah was off to Madrid last season.... Barca and Madrid are interested in VvD......... Moreno is off to Barca ........Need I go on?

Oh and of course Pogba has been leaving ever since he arrived!

But yeah, it only ever happens to little old Spurs.

You will never here the media transferring players or managers away from their darlings Pool or United, as it goes against the narrative.
