How to turn it around in Barca?

We didn't get the hammering we feared last night and actually had a fairly measured game if wholly toothless. This Barca team are beatable so how do we do it with the personnel we'll have available?

For me I think we need to return to the 4-2-3-1 which had early success when Ole came in. It is when we looked most dangerous going forward.
It will allow us to squeeze the room in front of the defence where Messi and Coutinho like to operate as well as operate an effective 4 man press as they play out from the back.

-------------------------------------DDG---------------------------------------
Dalot-----------------Smalling---------------Lindelof-----------------Rojo
------------------------Herrera--------------McT------------------------------
Pereira----------------------------Pogba-----------------------------Martial
-----------------------------------Rashford-------------------------------------

Shaw being suspended is massive. Darmian offers nothing going forward and we need Dalot on the right where he is best so Rojo will have to come in.
Lingard quite simply isn't good enough and would be anonymous.
We'll be starved of the ball and can't afford it bouncing off Lukaku when it goes near him. Still not mobile/hard working enough to press like we'll need him to. No physical presence advantage for crosses as he just can't compete with Pique.

Going for Pereira on the right as he is a tidy technician, great set piece delivery, can shoot from distance and has a good engine. Means he can track Alba and sit for Dalot when he overlaps.

Herrera has to come in for Fred as he is simply a much better player
McT keeps Matic's place because his performance warrants it and he has the legs.

If you got back what you paid & made some profit on those 2 would you sell them this summer & rebuild ?

Only my view but Lukaku isn't good enough and Pogba aint worth the aggro..... should have listened to SAF (sounds like he was right all along ?)

All for it.
If we can flog Pogba to Barca for cash and Coutinho
to Madrid for cash and 1 of Isco/Kroos/Casemiro
to PSG for Verratti we'll be much better off.

Pogba doesn't have the maverick talent that justifies building a team around nor does he have the abiltiy to dictate games as a CM.

I've no idea how we're going to shift Lukaku.

don't disagree with your team & you might be right but it says a lot about United as a club and their recruitment that your 90mln CM & 75 mln CF don't feature in your biggest game of the season

It would if this is the manager's line up and not a fan on a forum.

All depends on getting a replacement in to be honest. We're light in midfield as it is. In an ideal world he'd stay and be committed every game even if he doesn't play well. It's not the case at present though.

I like the idea of Pereira coming back in, wasn't a huge fan but though he was harshly dropped when other players came back.

Marcus looks absolutely knackered at the moment and hasn't been the same since the injury in the Liverpool game. It wouldn't shock me to see him either rested at the weekend or start from the bench next Tuesday.

Some players have been horribly exposed in the last few weeks as not being good enough especially in defence, and unfortunately I think Ole has fell a little into the Jose trap of protecting the back four. We were at our best when we gave teams something to think about at the other end

Since Pogba came back after PSG win we have been losing regularly. We need Herrera to help us get that constant press and through ball game going.

Yes, but he’s invisible in that role.

lol Barcelona most likely would have thrashed PSG if they are down to very few players.
