Ashley ( can’t pass ) Young

According to Opta, Our first choice right back gave the ball away a staggering 30 times in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Old Trafford against Barcelona.
Not bad for someone who’s just been given a new contract.

Aston Villa fans hate him. A Villa fan, a mate of mine, told me he went to watch the team at their training ground, which is a long was to go for the guy to travel to. He said Cashley Young (he called him) was standing around with his hands in his pockets. Disgusting.

When he joined Manchester United he came in for a lot of criticism. Some said he wasn’t quite the finished article?
He was 27 at the time and cost something like £20m!
Money for old rope.

I'd play Darmian as the 3rd centre back in Shaws absence. As much as I hate playing with wing backs, we seemed to lose intensity when we switched to 4 at the back. Play Young on the left and allow Dalot to swing some balls in from the right.

With Bailly injured, Darmian is better suited for this game than Jones or Rojo.

Can use that as a positive as if we have someone who can cross we can have joy against Barcelona.

This isn't new with Young. He has never been a really good player. He is now and has been for some time, a really poor player.

How many games is he banned for after his sending off against Wolves? We should appeal against it and hope the FA increase the ban.

Genuinely this.

He is full of commitment but it in no way makes up for his complete lack of ability. Can't cross, no sense of position, as demonstrated can't pass, gets beaten constantly then proceeds to get stupid yellow cards because of it. We sometimes get away with it when we playa lesser team, but gets horribly exposed when we play anyone half decent.

I don't blame Young, if I'm picked to play (I'd probably be more use to be fair) I'm gonna do it and try my best. The fact he is currently captaining the team is a horrible indictment of our recruitment policy.

Ashley Young was never more than a cover player pushing to become a regular. As a right winger he didn't really cut it. He came in for a lot of criticism especially around the LVG era.

In fairness to him, when he moved to RB, he found something new. The fact that he made it to the WC was a real credit to him. He has NEVER lacked effort. I was actually pretty impressed with him last season. HOWEVER, it was NEVER a long term solution to have him as RB and now age has completely caught up with him. With something not right with Tony Valencia, we shouldn't have come into this season with AY as our first choice. JM was so focussed on the CB situation, he seemed to ignore the right back issue. (Yes, I know he signed Dalot but he was one for the future and Ole seems to see him more a midfielder/winger than a RB.)

In summary, a new RB is our biggest priority.
