I'm obviously irritated that we lost again at home, but relatively relaxed about it as we are in a strangely comfortable mid table position (for which thanks to Claude as well as Brendan), so the end of the season can be seen as a useful learning experience.
I expect that 7th and the prospect of European football (only available if Man City do the expected job at Wembley in the FA Cup) has receded somewhat following last night and was unlikely anyway given 3 out of our last 4 games are against top 5 sides.
Personally I'm probably relieved that we don't have the disruption of early involvement in the Europa League when we have a new manager trying to build for next season. I do recognise that the prospect of playing in Europe may attract a better standard of player - and could be a reason why Tielemans might decide to join permanently. I think on balance I'd prefer Brendan to have a full preseason and try perhaps to do well enough for a top 7 place next year.
Equally I'm aware that we need to make the best of opportunities as they arise, success may not come again.
Thoughts?

I agree that it’s not ideal timing for an early qualifying campaign for the europa league. Especially as Rodgers will be working to integrate his new players in to the squad.
Like you, I’m relaxed about the end of the season. Just want to finish it we’ll so our top players believe they can achieve something if they stay in to next season.

Results going our way.

I think Watford is the main danger. They have a fair run of fixtures and if they're swayed by the cup final, they could win that anyway and 7th place is redundant

Good day of results if we are hoping for that 7th spot. Got to pull some points in from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City I’d we want to do it though.
Target next season for me.

It’s absolutely the right timing to aim for European football. Given the qualifying rounds take place in the summer, it’s best to get into them when there isn’t an international tournament in the summer and all your players get no break. That situation killed Burnley’s season for months.

except for that dire match up at everton which we managed to win. have we won a game on the tv which was shown live this season.

Dunge - I take it from that you would like us to qualify for the Europa League? I'm not so sure but if it was part of us being attractive enough for Tielemans I'd be more than happy with us getting to 7th (assuming the Hornets don't win the FA Cup).
