Lukaku and Lingard should not be regular

starters for us next season.

It's painful watching Lukaku play. The amount of times it broke down with him today was astonishing.

Lingard, I just don't feel has enough quality in any aspect of the game. Actually I'd say he's not great from an attacking sense and pretty bad defensively. His touch and passing isn't great and yet he seems to get a pass just cause he moves about a bit.

They weren't the only poor performers today but I just feel like these two are there or there about being regular starters for us next season when for me they should be no where near.

Lambeau,

I’d say if you put Lingard’s movement in Martial you’d have something similar to Mbappe.

what we need is to sign that deeplying playmaker that means pogba does not need to drop deep. Pair him with a workhorse like herrera if he micracly stays (or new signing>Mct>fred)

pogba will score and create more with this simple change and the team will be more solid defensively.

and bring in a rwf. If we can get rid of both lukaku and sanchez i will go further and bring in another forward too to keep the likes of martial and rasford on their toes

Anyone know what type of footballer Lingard is supposed to be?

He isn't a winger seeing as he struggles to beat men and can't cross a ball.
He isn't a creative midfielder (a la Mata) seeing as he doesn't have the passing ability or nous to create chances.
He isn't a striker given his very average finishing, propensity to get into goal scoring positions and overall goal return.
He isn't a workhorse (a la Park Ji Sung) as he is a complete irrelevance in terms of defensive capability, interceptions, marking etc.

What role does he fulfil in the squad other than the homegrown quota?

Been saying this for ages. He honestly is Mr Anonymous. When was the last time you thought ‘Lingard was excellent today’?
I honestly can’t remember. He is weak with and without the ball, creates feck all, doesn’t score enough, doesn’t get involved. Oh but he makes good runs...dear me

Lukaku with competent wingers will be more than good enough - certainly the best the club currently has. So if he doesn't feature as centre forward next year his replacement will have to be very good

Lingard is a championship level player. Always will be

People are going to have to accept signing 6 or 7 new starters isn't realistic.

Sure ideally we'd replace a lot of players but it'll be tough. The priority has to be a CB and a RB imo. On top of that if we can sign an attacking player to give us more of a cutting edge that would be great.

I think a whole new right hand side is the priority to be honest. It was a CB midway through the season but I’d go with the right hand side which absolutely stinks in all honesty

I really liked some of greenwoods runs when he came on too. He lost the ball a couple of times but he can really cover the ground fast and looks hungry for the incisive passes.

Agree, but CB is a huge issue. Smalling is appaulling on the ball and I think he's a player who could suffer with VAR the way he defends too.

Lindelof I have hope for, but he isn't going to propel us to a title challenge. Leadership and quality is required at CB and imo is vital.

Yes I agree. I quite like Smalling but agree about his distribution and I have also said the same that he could come unstuck with the introduction of VAR. I just think we need a different outlet as we are so predictable. Nullify our left and that is us done. Saw a stat the other day that we use our right hand side less than any other side in the league. Every person we put their is dreadful. Valencia, Young, Lingard, Mata, Sanchez. Not going to blame Dalot as he is young but he has done only ok.

There is massive amounts of work to be done truth be told and it won’t be fully rectified this coming summer unfortunately. We honestly need to start by shipping players out and really starting a fresh
