The Rams (one hopes) and Bolton still have plenty to fight for, though both could easily sink into despair if the game starts to go against them. If Bolton lose - they are relegated. And Derby have to win everyone of their last 6 games to get into the play-offs.
So - the scene is set after the very poor display at Blackburn. Fortunately The Rams were in a different frame of mind compared with Tuesday and they dominated from start to finish, their superiority was not reflected in the score however - Derby spurning goals throughout. Oddly enough, the main culprits were Bryson and Mount and yet the game finished with Bryson scoring 2 and Mount getting a hat-trick. Derby should have ad 6 or 8 goals where’s in contrast, Bolton would not have scored if they had played until NEXT Saturday.
Derby played with patience, quick passing and plenty of movement and they appeared to penetrate Bolton’s defence almost at will. Derby’s (and Bryson’s first goal came when, after 30 minutes, Derby were denied a stone certain penalty with Bryson and Waghorn both being deliberately impeded in the box in a central position. The ref dismissed the appeals but the ball dropped clear and Bryson scored with a neat shot from a sharp angle. He had previously missed an earlier, much easier chance when 8 yards out and only the goalie to beat, he place a careful shot, heading for just inside the post but with enough deliberation for Mathews to tip it round the post. Harry Wilson, in had two shots blocked in quick succession. Then, just before half time, Waghorn controlled the ball and put a sublime pass through to Mason Mount for him to shoot inside the post.
The rout continued after the break and on 55 minus, Mason Mount received the ball from Tom Lawrence and, in controlling the ball bounced up nicely for him to head it home from a few yards. For me, Derby were too patient, passing the ball sideways, back and sideways again. But what do I know? It worked with our superiority continually proven until Derby got a fourth goal and Mount’s Patrick when Ashley Cole made a nice pass which Mount slotted in from an acute angle.
FL brought on Max Bird to replace Craig Bryson. Bird looks the business and did not look out of place in this game at least. Jack Marriott appears to have been forgiven for his unidentified misdemeanour as he replaced Martin Waghorn on 76 minutes. He exerted himself but could not get on the scoresheet.
Positives? Many, in that Bogle, Keogh and Tomori all did very well. If Mount had not scored a hat-trick Keogh would have been my choice for MOTM. But all players did well. Particularly pleasing was that Cole had a good game, though of course he had very little defending to do. Bryson improved during the game so maybe his time on the pitch is beginning to pay off. Roos had little to do but made a great save in added time which ensured a clean sheet.Lawrence cause many problems. Johnson held the midfield very well but again what did he have to control against such a weal team. That is the most difficult of all questions about this game. I think one of the most positive factors about our whole season is the assuredness and polish now apparent in Bogle. He is turning into most valuable team member. Let’s hope for the same from Max Bird and a couple of other youngsters bearing in mind we have to play without Tomori, Mount and Wilson next season.
The referee was pretty poor to my mind but did not unduly interfere. He made some poor decisions but we still had a great win.

The Shakespeare or Bacchus bar ar both about 100 yards from the Victoria Square exit of New Street. You won't get bother in either. Best plan is to Walk to Moor St or Snow Hill (Equidistant) and get off at Bordesley Green. Pain in the bottom walk up a lengthy hill though. I'd get a cab from New St. Ground is at least 2 miles away. Try the Crown on Stratford Rd, Digbeth. Oldest pub in Birmingham. Yes, I am familiar with the area and I will be there. Try the Head of Steam, Temple Row, about a 3 min walk from New St. Good pub. The Wellington or Joint Stock for the real ale people. Hotel Du Vin for a bit of class or anywhere in the Mailbox.

I’m planning on going in the old crown. Went in there when we played away at Brum a few years ago on Boxing Day. I remember it being next to the custard factory

That's the one. Very old looking black and white painted wood. Looks out of place. There are blues fans in there, but they're fine. Any nearer to the ground than that, forget it.

I have heard of a stonewall penalty. Not a stone certain penalty.
Listen, because I don't agree with you about King Keogh and pretty boy Lawrence, doesn't mean I got out the bed the wrong side. One decent pass he made on Saturday and people on here think he's a world beater. He consistently turns in below average performances.
Ask yourself this, if we make the Premier League, (which we won't yet again this season) would you want Keogh as one of your key players. I think the answer is quite clearly no. Be interesting, or not, to anylise all the blocks and tackles you mention. I must go to Pride Park blindfolded.
Anyway, at least I've added another dozen comments to your otherwise dull and oh so nice article.
By the way, renewed my season ticket for the 35th time earlier this month, so don't dismiss my opinion as if I'm some sort of casual observer.

AJ, I've renewed mine too if that is of importance. And my first was in 1970.
But I have never seen so many misconceptions in one post before this one. I definitely took pains to see that I did not dismiss your right to your opinions. But they do seem to be at odds with most others. Frank likes him and so do many other managers.
1. So what was it about stone certain that you didn't understand?
2. I had already said you were entitled to your opinions. And they were interesting though I didn't share them.
3. The reason I thought you got out of bed wrongly was the refusal to accept a different description of a stonewall penalty. Pedanticism equates to getting out of bed the wrong way.
4. Whether Keogh would make a good PL defender is purely hypothetical. Nowhere did I even consider such a proposition in my article let alone suggest it. I don't see how you could deduce my negative answer. It was never a question for me!
5. It was not clear in your comments whether it was Lawrence or Keogh who made just the one decent pass? So it is hard to agree or disagree with you on that one. But you are entitled to hold whatever view it was that you had. But never mind and just enjoy another year of Championship football. (unless we scrape the play-offs and then anything could happen).
