Has noticeably gotten even worse this season than it's been in recent years.
And it was already not good enough to begin with.
You can clearly see the gap when watching the refs in the champions league or the other top leagues around Europe compared to the cr@p we see every week in this country from refs and their equally useless assistants.
Mike Dean for example has given more red cards than quite a few of his colleagues combined - and that in itself is a huge problem. It shows that he's an attention seeking , headline grabbing ref.
Then there's Kevin Friend ... who has a tendency of consistently giving controversial decisions to the bigger clubs.
It's been an issue for years now and it looks like it's not getting better anytime soon unfortunately.

The same can be said about La Liga for example but their refs seem to do a lot better week in and week out

Very poor refereeing tbh!
All of them have their favourites, usually United or Liverpool.
It's refreshing to see good refs in CL
