Nev's Monday Moan....

Well not much really, I think by now the manager realizes the issues the previous managers have had to deal with.
This summer is the most important imo since the last summer that was really important.
Up front at least one striker to compete with vardy and support him.
Midfield still need a winger.
Defence imo we will nor stop conceding goals until we replace or get Kasper to improve but you know my views on that.
I hope Ian and Gray have a good summer and come back better.
As for losing players well what will be will be.
Like Birch i don't want us to get the last European league spot we aren't a strong enough squad and lets concentrate on getting a good start to next season.
Sorry tried my best but we have the right manager doing the right things.

True about the spots thing but its the only thing we haven't tried to improve our defence.
TB did you not see the last two games my friend same players same issues that faced CR/CS/CP and now BR.

Agree with most of that Nuneaton except for the Tielemans comment.

We have got an unhappy silva away to get some much needed match time and a confidence boost. If the worst case is that he comes back a better player and can slot in to Rodgers system then great. If we sell him and break even, great. Not landing Tilly would be frustrating, but that loan swap offers more value than just a great player for 6 months.

Nuneaton
Of course wes was at fault
He got himself dropped from the bench
So his instructions couldn't be heard on the pitch🤦🏻‍♀️
Was so obvious even I noticed 🙄

BR has a major rebuilding to do,
4 better quality players than we have now would allow good squad depth and a challenge for places,
Lb, rb, midfield, striker

I'm hoping nacho will thrive under BR and step up to at least 2nd striker if not part of a front 3,
New lb to challenge chilwell
New rb so Ricardo can challenge the rb and rw positions,

Midfield is also a concern

As I always say a lot depends on what we can bring in.

Gray is better than last season, but still not good enough. I actually think that some premier league club would pay good money for him and it would be tempting to cash in - but then we’d need someone better. Barnes remains a prospect, Albrighton is Albrighton - but then there is Ghezzal, Kapustka and Diabate. It’s not a list that screams top ten PL quality.

Personally I don’t see Ricardo as a winger. His distribution isn’t consistent enough. We could probably do with someone who will challenge for his position at RB.

The conversation around Kasper is still the same one it’s been for the last few seasons. Can we, realistically, get better? KS isn’t top 4 quality, but he is top 10 quality. Who can we get who’ll push him aside as it would definitely mean an exit for KS? He doesn’t strike me as a player who’d want to sit on the bench or even rotate - and he probably shouldn’t be at his age and experience.

The midfield is still a problem if we don’t get Tielemans and, personally, I think we could do with another solid signing in that area. We don’t really have an older player who’ll take the game by the scruff of its neck when we can’t break down a Cardiff, Soton or Newcastle at home.

And finally we still have the Vardy quandary. Who can we get who would be happy to be no.2? How do we plan for life after Vardy when he’s still our stand out player in his 30s. It’s a tough one.

In all of that Joby, I’d be happy to see Diabate given a shot to see if he can contribute to a high tempo, high press team. He looks to have those attributes.

Ghezzal and Kaputska just look too slow and cumbersome to fit in anywhere.

Nacho to me no looks like a misfit. He’s not a wide striker, and he’s not a number 10. So if we are genuinely looking for someone to challenge Vardy, where on earth does he fit? For me it’s best for all parties if we say it was the wrong club at the wrong time and move on. If his attitude is right I think he can succeed somewhere. Just not here.

Diabate...

After his impressive debut against Peterborough, I haven't seen anything I could hang my hat on to say: That lad has the skills we require. Mostly with younger players I'd be looking for someone who has ability and is either inconsistent or needs their game rounded and honed. That's the frustrating thing about Gray - the raw ability appears to be there but his development is so slow.

Diabate and Ghezzal, I simply don't see the raw ability. (And Ghezzal is over 25 anyway so is hardly a youngster.) Barnes goes past more defenders in an average match than either of them would in a season.

So I wouldn't mind seeing a new winger come in, particularly if we're going to persist with the 4-1-4-1 we're playing at the moment, although I don't think it's necessarily urgent. The most urgent is central midfield, although of course we have an obvious target for that berth. I'm also seeing rumours that Mendy might be a target for a couple of clubs on the continent, which might give Choudhury more opportunities.

As for right back, does anyone know how Amartey's getting on? The last rumour I heard is that things weren't good on that front.

I also saw that Rodgers will be looking for new wide players, he said he prefers one out wide and one who plays more inside, seems like Albrighton and Barnes should be his preferred option for now!

I’m not sure I agree on Diabate and Ghezzal Dunge. Both have shown very different abilities.

Diabate looked like he was great running with the ball and stretching play. Engaging his man and showing some very impressive skills whilst doing so. He then seemed to lose his confidence and turn to dog poo.

Ghezzal looks like he has some real technical ability. He has shown some unbelievable touches and glimmers of what he could be. His goal and some of his early play made me think he really could develop in to a similar role as Mahrez. Then his confidence was destroyed and he looked like Junior Lewis on a bad day.

So whilst I agree they both haven’t been very good for us. I’ve seen moments of ability that have made me believe they could be good.

Then again, I’ve though Gray “could” be good for 3 seasons now!!!

I’m not saying we shouldn’t offload them or don’t need new wingers, I just believe they are better players than we’ve ever had the chance to see. All that said, I’d have zero disappointment if they, alongside Gray and Nacho were sold in the summer.
