If we keep the same core of players who haven't been good enough for the last 4 managers nothing will change. I just don't see any manager in world football making our current defence, midfield or attack into PL or CL winners. Nobody. Pep wouldn't be able to do it. He can't even win the CL with 6/7 world class players at both Bayern n City.
People keep saying 'you can't make 10 changes in one summer'
Why not? If you have delusional hopes of a title challenge then that's your problem. We won't be in a title race again next year but we will surely finish at least 6th which will again get us European football.
That's now got to be the starting point. Ship out all the deadwood, bring in some new hungry players and promote some of the talented kids. Yes it will be a bumpy ride but continuing with the deadwood won't be any better.
I sadly feel we will fall for the sentimental trap again and give Young, Jones and co another chance. It's what we've become.
How good will it feel if we are totally ruthless for a change and sell or release 10,11 or 12 players? If Ole doesn't do this he's settin himself up for failure as those same players will keep letting us and him down.
We can keep changing managers but....

Chelseas side in 2014 were not a joke and were basically the same side that won the CL finished third behind topscoring city and Liverpool teams. Had we not dropped points to bottom half teams would easily have won the league that season. Only Torres was a weak spot.

It is possible to make sweeping changes to a side provided you have the following:
1) Competent commercial team
2) Clear list of targets at a range of cost
3) Will to integrate youth players
4) Will to move quickly on to other players if wages/costs are beyond tolerances.
The amount of transfer business Italian clubs get up to every summer is something to behold. As an example, this season Juve bought 9 new players, paid a loan fee for a 10th, sold 10, loaned out another 5 for handsome loan fees and released 7 on a free. Another 15 went out on loan for no fee.

You can make 10+ changes in a summer but looking at Fulham, it rarely works out.

This. Its Ole who needs to sort things out. Player clear outOnly at Man united can such a lazy excuse be brought forward.
Fergie won the league with majority of these players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fergie retired 6 years ago. Players don't stay at the same level forever.
They aren't good enough the ones who have been here throughout this last 6 years. Young, Valencia, Jones and co are some of our poorest players today. Absolute shocking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Still making excuses for Ole. The 2-0 loss against PSG told me everything you need to expect from Ole. If you guys cant see it then goodluck
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's not signed anyone yet. How is that giving him a chance?

A Red comes in peace. Not a wum.
Eric,or manusince or any other genuine ManU fan, a question:
Try and forget yesterday, it was a proverbial nightmare. But, over the season, and no doubt you've seen your team play enough times, who would you get rid of, and why?

There are some who we need to actively look to move on. Rojo, Darmian, Valencia, Sanchez, Mata, one of Bailly/Jones. Probably Young as well although it would leave us short at full back.
But quite honestly, I'm at a point where there is not a single player I would be sad to see leave the club. Not a single one. And of those De Gea is probably the only one who would walk out with his head held high.
If I was Ole I'd quite simply group up the guys who dont want to be here and get rid. And if the likes of Martial and Lukaku aren't in that group, ask them what in fecks name are they playing at with performances like yesterday's.

Darmian, Valencia, Rojo, Jones and Young straight away. It's time to be ruthless.
Then quite possibly Matic, Pogba, Martial and Lukaku too. None of which are irreplaceable and Pogba n Martial in particular lack effort and desire.

Many thanks for the replies. My own take, for what it's worth is that the United board have got to think long term. They've made the decision, rightly or wrongly that OGS is the man.
He must be given time, time that wasn't given to Moyes. In my view, he inherited a team on their last legs, and was expected to rejuvenate them overnight, and it just wasn't going to happen.
I think the days of the marquee/galactico signings are in the past too. Now its time to recruit and promote from within. I've watched your U23s, you got some decent lads coming through, time to give some of them a chance. There's defo quick fix.
Good luck on Wednesday.
