In Bielsa We Trust

Bielsa has done nothing but good for our club and our team. He's a man of integrity, ideas and inspiration and I don't believe any other manager could have spurred this team on to the playoffs. The only ones who have sold themselves short are the players. Unlike in previous seasons where certain players gave up the fight and were arguably unfit to wear the white shirt, this squad have never been lacking when it comes to effort. It's the composure, the judgment and to some extent, the skills that have been in short supply. It's probably unfair to single out players with two games remaining, but those entrusted with putting goals in the back of the net have come up disastrously short and not only has our shots-to-goals ratio been poor but our shots on target has been well below what a promotion challenging team need. We clearly don't deserve 2nd spot on current form: Since Boxing Day Norwich and Sheffield have lost twice, while we've lost 9 matches – that is a desperate stat and ironically demonstrates just how head-and-shoulders we were above the rest of the division till the turn of the year. But we are where we are, as they say, and come the playoffs we'll go again – and in Bielsa we will trust.

Think we have been a bit unlucky but in my ruthless world that counts for nothing.
Genuinely think lately he’s got it wrong.
Shackleton for starters
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Look Shackleton is a player with a lot of potential. He's done well when called upon this season.

But he's 18 years old, tiny and very inexperienced. This happens everytime Leeds have a decent young player come through. People been calling for Clarke to start since his great cameos in December and he's looked miles out his depth since.

No way should he have dropped Klich or Forshaw for Shackleton

Last 4 games: Leeds 104 shots, 4 goals; Norwich 69 shots, 7 goals. Sheff 47 shots, 7 goals. Norwich 1 goal in 10 shots; Sheff 1 goal in 7; Leeds 1 in 26.

It’s not Bielsa’s tactics or motivation or subs at fault. You can only hide player limits with effort for so long, as he said today.... you seriously telling us Shackleton or any other youngsters on the bench change those stats??? Give over.

I don’t use stats

Because whilst we have had load of shots.

The past two games, we’ve never looked like creating in the second half of either games.

Been so easy to defend against, zero spark

Bielsa been great for us, especially his integrity.

He genuinely believed he had enough in terms of players, he was wrong. He was let down by sale of Vieira and a poor Jan window, he has been let down by the club.

But also his tactics have been his ultimate undoing. Continually going behind and leaving too much space at back. Additionally our delivery from free kicks and corners has been awful, as coach he needs to address this.

That's the trade off with Bielsa. For the brilliant football you get, the massive improvement in existing players, you also get a man who will want a small squad, who will play the same tactics at all times and who will always be first to attack. I guess the Forest game in January is the best example of this - it was thrilling to watch and at the time we applauded, but perhaps the wrong decision once we got the lead.

And he nearly bloody pulled it off.

Spot on pal, we all love beilsa, but he’s got to shoulder a lot of the blame for how it’s ended.

Agree

If Bielsa is God, then what is Wilder and Farke? Both have limited resources and smaller stadiums than us (less income/revenue) yet managed to be slightly better over a season.

using some rough maths on matches played that means

Roofe 1 goal per 5.38 shots
Bamford 1 goal per 4.67 shots
Pukki 1 goal per 4.97 shots

but hard to make direct comparison due to sub appearances....
