To be honest, i've only seen 3 or 4 of that type of nonsense but seen hundreds if not thousands of messages of support from all over the world.

I'll focus on the latter

Words like icon and legend at times are overused, but not in this case.
RIP Billy McNeill, a true loss to Celtic, Scottish football, and British football generally.

Christ that interview with Charlie Nicholas is a hard watch.

Don't like the guy but he's done so well in that interview.

As a 16 yr old Man City fan,I remember walking home from work with a tranny ( radio ) glued to my ear listening to the first half of the European Cup Final and watched the second half on the telly ,and watched his greatest achievement .
It was great that we had such an iconic figure at our club, no matter how it worked out
RIP Billy , a legend in the game

Had the great pleasure of meeting Billy in Lisbon after Benfica v Celtic 2006. We got back to our hotel late that night and were shocked to see some of the Lions were staying there. Ended up in residents bar with them.. All great guys but I was sitting next to Billy and was struck by how down to earth the guy was. He insisted on buying a beer for us and we ended up in rounds with them! They say never meet your heroes but Billy was a true hero.. An absolute gentleman who was genuinely interested in what you had to say, great craic, funny.. All round great man.

A sad day.

RIP Billy 💚
