Respect for Liverpool

Despite the rivalry they have had a superb season and are genuinely one of the best teams I’ve seen over the past decade. Press like absolute beasts (though a bit less this season than before) and are actually fun to watch.

Klopp is a genius and along with Poch for me the best two or three managers (along with Rafa) at getting non world class players playing a lot better than the sum of their parts.

They may well get 97 points and still not win the title which is mental and more a testament to how good City are rather than anything to do with Liverpool being chokers.

I’m sure we’ll be back soon to challenge but fair play to Liverpool, they are a truly world class side and I’m actually jealous 😹

Being fair it's a perfect storm for Liverpool.

They have a good GK and defence (including a top CB) as well as an attacking three who are top class.

I'd argue they are more than the sum of their parts though. That's meant as a compliment as their (on paper) functional midfield isn't the 'best' but they compliment the defence and midfield perfectly.

Respect is due. Of course it is. Still galls me to see them having a great chance for the title though!

Liverpool deserve credit for this season 100% but this is also pretty much the same team which scraped 4th last year.

Would it be a sensible idea not to suck this team off until they have maintained consistency over multiple seasons? Maybe win something?

Liverpool are great to watch and have performed brilliantly this season but if they maintain this form and win something then even United fans can't say much.

They haven't done either yet, so it's hard to say if this is a one off season or the start of something successful. This is also why some people think certain members of the Liverpool squad maybe overrated.

Getting 97 points (if they do) is a better achievement than a lot of trophies teams win. Especially while being in the CL semi and having only lost once.

Not sure why them being 4th last season is a stick to beat them with??

See Firmino's Brightest Tooth for a reasonable response to my comment.

Firmino's Brightest Tooth and Terminator 1

It's been a HUGE leap in progression, that either means things have clicked into place or as Diafol put it 'a perfect storm' where everything seems to go right.

I'm not schitting on your achievements this season, I'm just saying that this level of performance needs to continue into the next couple of seasons before you can look at you team as great.

Do that and you'll no doubt win the league if you don't win it this season.

To be honest I actually think United will do you a favour tomorrow and you'll go on to win the league.

Liverpool haven't pressed nearly as high up the pitch this season

It is the most facile and basic analysis to say LFC scraped 4th therefore.... blah blah.

Even the slightest bit of in depth analysis whatsoever could prove that a pointless argument.

It really is quite simple, LFC have scored as many goals in league but have conceded far fewer therefore have lost only once and drawn few games also. Really is that simple.

Liverpool have improved with some shrewd recruitment and by playing to the strengths of the players they have.

As United fans we should recognise that.

I won't lie. I don't want them to win the league (don't want City to either but I can live with them winning due to the rivalry not being quits so intense) but I will applaud their effort if they do. City will also have to be applauded for a fine campaign too.

Yea we just like to have a laugh at them but it can't be denied that they are getting things right over there. Taking a while but good things supposedly come to those who wait.

We will congratulate them if they win it. Nobody wins the league by fluke or mistake.
