ive lost count recently how many times ive seen people post on here about selling the likes of Jones and smalling and bringing back Tuanzebe and TFM, and giving Chong an extended run in the team
now while i agree that smalling and jones are not at the level we need to be, do these people not realize that Tunazebe has been part of a Villa back 4 that have one of the worst defensive records in the championship, and TFM has looked awful ( when he's even got a game) in a Fulham team that was relegated.
Chong has made a few cameo appearances and looked raw at best.
so do people ever actually watch these players or just suggest them because they are young?
do people watch the same thing?

Tuanzebe counts as a home grown player, which Jones does not. Therefore it's a free squad position and if anything an upgrade on Calamity Jones. So that's why I said get rid of Jones and bring Tuanzebe in. And also why I said it would free up a squad place.
Jones offers nothing

I’ve never been a massive fan of Jones either, bull in a china shop type defender who keeps getting injured, can’t believe he was given a new contract. Minor detail, he does count as homegrown, but that’s no reason to keep him.
I also agree with the OP, we can’t just throw raw, young players into this mess, if we had a good team we could afford to give one or two some games but not the way things are at the moment. It wouldn’t be fair to them.

I don't think we should flood the team with youngsters. I'm saying that we'd be as well to give them a go than keep Jones or Young. Perreira too isn't anywhere near good enough. Pogba and Martial clearly don't care. There are any number I think we should get rid of. But Jones, after all these years has to be top of the list.
Realistically you won't have a clutch of brilliant kids. But Tuanzebe over Young and Greenwood over Martial wouldn't weaken us (on Martial's form over 3 years now). Then we could spend the money on other areas of weakness. Another out and out centre forward is a necessity, surely?

Merry. A top class forward who's a reliable goalscorer could hide a lot of sins in the squad. It wouldn't make us a top team overnight but would help. I don't ever think Rashford and Martial can be the type of player to score 30 plus goals a season. What I think they can be is very dangerous inside forwards who can score up to and around 20 a season (if they mature and are at it).

I get what you're saying, but it can go either way. The responsibility of playing in the first team can bring out the best in youngsters.
By all accounts, Kane couldn't hit a barn door on loan at Norwich and Leicester. How glad we are that we gave him a chance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kane is a very atypical case, it shouldn’t be point if reason for every young player who goes on loan and struggles
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the point is we're not hoping for a Kane like transformation. More like a passable PL defender with room to improve given games. Tuanzebe and TFM looked good in the limited appearances for United and they still have lots of room for improvement.

I don' think Chong will make it but would I rather we give him the game time of a proven-to-be- useless Lingard to find out, yes.
TFM might be a good utility player (RB/CB/DM) but his development has been neglected since Jose came in. 3 caps for Holland at the age of 19 says plenty about ability. Jones spends 50% injured, 25% dire and 25% decent. No reason TFM can't take his place in the squad.
Tuanzebe either comes into the fold or is sold in the summer. Haven't seen enough of/from him to suggest he is a first teamer but we're carrying Darmian/Rojo/Bailly on big money and they don't play.

Kane was bang average at Leicester and crazy Pearson even said he would never be good enough to play for England. Where is Pearson now?
Man U can have Morgan? Lol

There's a lot of truth in this. Although I think Lingard is a useful squad player

There are 11 teams in the Championship with a worse defensive record than Villa and one team who have conceded the same amount of goals, so they've hardly got one of the worst records. Also, how many of the goals Villa have conceded that you know of are down to Tuanzebe?
Are you also aware that he was injured from December until March and missed 17 games during that time?
Tuanzebe has been from what I've heard and seen pretty good for Villa since moving to CB after a stint playing at RB at the start of the season and since his return from injury he's looked pretty sharp and it seems to me like the general consensus of Villa fans are happy that he's back in the side.
Correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to have formed an opinion based on a figure within a table.
Having been a class above at every underage level, one of our better loan players and given he's looked fairly accomplished in a handful of appearances for United, forgive those of us who'd like to see him involved next season ahead of some of the dross and players who can't be relied upon.
Fosu-Mensah also bar Everton in the FA Cup semi in 2016, has looked pretty good for United when he's appeared. The 2nd half of his loan at Palace didn't go as planned due to the progress of Wan-Bissaka but he had some very good games for Palace, most notably against City and Liverpool.
His loan at Fulham hasn't gone well but their season has been a complete disaster and there haven't been many who've actually played well for them so I wouldn't judge him too much on this season. Since coming back into the side a few weeks ago, he was doing alright but unfortunately he's injured now.
Both of them, particularly Tuanzebe deserve to be given a chance next season ahead of the likes of Rojo, Jones, Young and Darmian etc. if by some miracle any of them are still at the club. At the very least I hope Ole will take a good look at them in the summer.

Sell Tuanzebe? He's arguably the youngster who has the best chance of becoming a United player. He's gotten rave reviews at Villa, despite injuries problems and has looked absolutely comfortable in his cameos for United.
The jury is still out on TFM, but he'll definitely have a career for a team in a top league somewhere. Whether or not it will be at a top 4 club is another matter.

Please can we stop using the tern "throwing in youngsters" it already shows how you feel about the idea. Introducing youngsters is so obviously a good thing, for more than one reason.
All players begin young, who knew?
They, generally love the club
They try hard
They are an investment.
They are, or should be, the future of the club.
Of course there are caveats,
mainly that they have to be good enough for at least a run.
That we don't bring in too many at the same time.
But overall it's a good thing.
