A thread to cheer us all up

😅

A little heavier than an AskJoe article..

I've got a funeral tomorrow, pal of mine. Was only 31 but hung himself a couple of weeks ago.. tragedy as he was one of the nicest guys you could meet.

A lot of pals blaming themselves for not seeing signs etc but I know first hand how you can hide it from those closest to you. Just a shame he couldn't see a way out. Suicides and mental health issues are going through the roof.. biggest killer among men aged 25-40 IIRC, and it's more prevalent up here (probably the horrendous winters of eternal night ).

Added to that is the fact he's the third of our group of friends to go already. Lost one of my best pals 5 year ago, he was only 24. Then another pal died the next year, only 26. Makes you appreciate how short life can be.

Anyone else had pals or family die young? Or anyone had someone close to them commit suicide? Only asking as tomorrow's funeral is gonna be tough. Tougher than the other two due to the circumstances. Happy Thursday everyone 😅

Look, im not saying depression is a thing. It clearly is.

But a lot of cases (if not all) can be cured by looking at the underlying cause (Alcohol, gambling, drug use, lack of exercise, self entitlement, social media, etc etc)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Those underlying causes you so helpfully highlighted aren't causes.. they're symptoms. Addiction is one of the biggest symptoms of depression.. they're often symbiotic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unreal. This BOY doesn't even know how to purchase car insurance but suddenly he is an expert on mental health.
Alcoholism and drug abuse are often the result of depression.

He knows people who don't drink much and are not depressed though.

Jesus its like loose women on here

Great news for diabetics.. you can influence the amount of insulin in the body, so no need for daily injections anymore
---------------------------

And if youre telling me that diabetes hasnt been cured in some folk due to lifestyle changes youre clearly deluded..

No such thing as free speech unless you agree with the majority apparently
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Type2? No Joe, not on your keyboard.

Although there's no cure for type 2 diabetes, studies show it's possible for some people to reverse it. Through diet changes and weight loss, you may be able to reach and hold normal blood sugar levels without medication. This doesn't mean you're completely cured. Type 2 diabetes is an ongoing disease.
