So now we know for sure...

...the play-offs it is. Whatever else happens though, we need 3 points from our last 2 games to make sure we don't face Villa 3 times in the next 4 games.

Psychologically, I don't know how today's results will affect the mindset of the players and our performances between now and the end of the season. As bad as the last two results have been, today really killed it and MB's comment in his press conference that "my results link me more to defeat than to success in my personal career" are somewhat worrying. If the head coach is flat, then it's difficult to see how the players can re-discover some measure of form and acquire the kind of ruthless cutting edge that has been missing for much of the season.

Ultimately it's down to the players. The system works - majority possession, corners and shots on target galore, but too few goals to show for all that - and that's the bit that matters.

Amidst all the doom and gloom of where we find ourselves it's easy to forget that we've had a terrific season overall. It would be easy to pick holes in a variety of areas where we've fallen short but the season isn't over and we're still in with a chance of success, so it would be premature to conduct a post mortem now.

For my part, I can only say that at the moment I'm not confident of play-off success because we've been too inconsistent of late and the last 2 results have been a hammer blow to all our aspirations of automatic promotion, if only to avoid the nerve-jangling lottery of the play-offs. We always seem to do things the hard way and we've all suffered enough heart-ache in the past to know that things can very easily go wrong.

Nothing against Villa - they've been outstanding over the last 10 games but I hope they finally seriously run out of wins, and that our poor record in the play-offs also comes to an end.

A word of congratulations to both Norwich and Sheff Utd on their success which is well deserved.

As for ourselves, let's get back on track later today and build some much needed momentum and confidence for the games that really matter.

Amazing how MB and the team let this once in a lifetime opportunity slip thru their fingers - lost for words. We've been very unlucky with injuries. I still think BPF should have been kept as 1st choice keeper and Saiz should have been encouraged to stay. Since Casilla came I think it has upset the routine at the back, I know BPF made a few mistakes but overall he was great.

Will be a long summer if we don't go up. If we are still in this league next season I feel CARLOS CORBERAN would be a good successor to MB(if MB leaves).

What about Hernandez? He turned 34 this month. Will he be as effective in another 46 game season?

I hope Bielsa stays, but if he doesn't, it needs continuity of some kind. And no going all through the summer messing around looking for replacement. It needs resolving quickly, one way or another, instead of messing around losing precious time like we've done in the past....So he or is successor can get the players they want. If we win the playoffs, then Bielsa will stay anyway, and he will know what type of players he wants.

Pablo should be moved in the centre full time and not expected to drag the team like he has done. If he's managed well, he can still be a massive player for us

Always said this, I would actually make a sacrifice and put Dallas on the right JUST to get Pablo through the middle.

Kamara, what form back exactly?
It’s been ages. New thinking is needed.
