46 Years Ago Today

April 28th 1973.

Celtic won their 8th successive Title with a 3-0 win at Easter Road.

Bobby Lennox and Jinky were nursing injuries but still played.

We celebrated till it was getting light.

I was on the high terracing two years later when Colin Stein equalised to win the title and stop Celtics 10 in a row
Proper terracing jampacked with fans

Easter road was tremendous in the old days. That big terracing was an awesome thing.

Aye that sloping terracing was summat else.

Wouldn't be allowed now even it it was seated.

Probably the best view of the pitch at any ground in Scotland.

Looked into it earlier mate. I had read somewhere years ago that it was actually the biggest single terrace at any club ground in the world...not sure if true.

However, Hibs did have plans at one stage to expand their capacity to 95,000. Unbelievable nowadays and probably just as well that they didn't.

My expedition kit in those days was a pint 'Sergeant' screwtap of

Guinness in each pocket inside the ground.

Was swigging from the second one when the 3rd goal went in.

Guy behind me went berserk bumped me the stout skooshed all over

me and the dour copper who was standing a few feet away on my left.

He was beelin but couldn't do anything.

I was glad cos the Edinburgh polis were the biggest buncha bastirts ever

when the OF came visiting.

They couldn't conceal their utter contempt for us when we came thru.

That is amazing Magnum.

On a parallel note.

First fitba forum I was on was AOL.

Every top flight club had regular posters.

There were 20+ regulars from both Hibs and Hearts.

50+ each from the OF.

Loads of female posters from all clubs.

2nd flight had regulars as well.

It was self moderated and we all took turns.

As you would expect we were harder on our own to appear fair.

A Bear who was a Firefighter ended up doing it all as he had plenty

time and was as funny as fvk so issues were quickly blown over.
