Bassini "Confident" Deal will go ahead.

Laurence Bassini issued a statement this afternoon in which he said he's confident his takeover of the club will be complete and that the match against Brentford will take place this week:

The full statement can be seen here:

And this is the text:

Laurence Bassini intends to complete his proposed takeover of Bolton and believes the postponed Championship match with Brentford will be played this week.

An increasingly acrimonious purchase from owner Ken Anderson took a twist on Saturday when Anderson said if Bassini did not provide proof of funds by Monday he would explore other options.

BBC Sport understands former Watford owner Bassini is confident he can complete the deal.

Bassini is also understood to be determined the game against Brentford, postponed on Saturday after Bolton's senior players refused to play until overdue wages were paid, will go ahead even if it needs the use of the club's younger players.

The EFL has told relegated Bolton they must complete their season but is yet to confirm the deadline.

Wanderers' final game is at Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 5 May.

It may not sound right but I reckon administration may be the lesser of two evils when the other option is Bassini?

I am getting really pee'd off with these 48 hours...according to sky reports ELF have given Bassini another 48hours..dont they know we are in court next week?

Nobody seems able to make any sort of decisions they just keep dragging it out for some reason.

Ken could change all that today if he sticks to his last statement. We can only wait and see but I suspect he will hold on either in the hope that Bassini will eventually pass the test or that he has another option. Either way, time is running out.

I think we are all royally brassed off with the whole situation. I certainly am.

The EFL appear to be in as much of a quandary over this as anyone else. Their fit and proper test appears to be being made a mockery of and they don’t know what to do.

Their test was not fit for purpose when they cleared Holdsworth to buy the club. As far as we know he had borrowed 5 Million from Blue marble at over the odds interest and had to brink Ken in right at the last minute. Ken had some money. but possibly not enough or he wasn't going to spend it if he had it.

The EFL has a lot to answer for. If they had done a proper job, they should have stopped the sale of the club to Holdsworth and Anderson.

Will, as for the EFL funding the player's wages, there was a post on the forum that stated that the EFL rules stated that they would pay wages in a situation like ours. I must confess that I took that post as gospel but I don't really know if that is the case. Otherwise, if they hadn't gone on strike and the sale had gone through either ken or Bassini would have to pay their wages.

Because they went on strike, I'm not sure how that would affect their case.

Match on as the pfa part pay the players march salaries. Not complete agreement in the squad. My message to those not in agreement go now and never darken the doorsteps of my club ever again. The question is why has action like this not happened earlier? We would have had the Brentford game played as it is we might not have any match day staff as they have not been paid. At least we will have some football to talk about.

Well, glad we are going to get to see a match on Sunday. Today was the last day I could have got a refund on my tickets.
