I was having a look at our squad list and trying to see how it might look for next season. We have loads of players in some positions and are bare in a couple.
Anyway who is for the punting?
GK
McGregor
Foderingham
Alnwick
McCrorie
Firth
McGregor will undoubtedly remain 1st choice.
McCrorie is a top prospect between the sticks going from what i have heard previously so a loan deal for him seems most likely. 5 clean sheets in 14 games for Morton and only 15 conceded in total. Would a Premiership side take him or will it be another season in the Championship?
Alnwick should move on, not sure where his level is at but he's on the verge of relegation to league two with Scunthorpe.
Foderingham has a year left on his deal and he's a great option for us as a back up keeper but we would be daft not to sell him if someone came in for him this summer. He would be a decent Championship keeper down south.
No idea what Andy Firth is like, seemed like we just brought him in for 3rd choice so we could loan out Alnwick and McCrorie. He's got another year on his deal so i would imagine the plan is for him to be 3rd choice next season again.
For me it's Alnwick for the punting unless a bid comes in for Fod.
Foderingham open for offers.
McCrorie out on loan to continue his development.
Firth kept for 3rd choice.
McGregor 1st choice.
LB
Wallace and Beerman (remember him) are both out of contract and will no doubt be off.
Gerrard doesn't seem to fancy Barisic mainly down to attitude it appears. It's a shame because he's got some delivery but he does seem a bit soft. I would imagine being a Croatian international we would recoup the 2m we paid pretty easily and it does seem Gerrard will explore that avenue given the chance.
Halliday, gives his all but cannot ever be first choice. Cover at best, so we would need to go out and get another left back ready to come straight into the team.
Does Barasic get shown the door this summer?
CB
Worrall leaves (thank fook) and McAuley will surely not have his deal renewed.
We need to add two CB's this summer to replace them or possibly 1 and try McCrorie at CB again given the ridiculous number of CM players we have.
Timm Klose from Norwich has been linked on a free and would be a good addition imo, Ro-Shaun Williams at Shrewsbury is another we should be in for. He left United after being offered a new deal to go and play and he's been excellent.
RB
Tavernier
Flanagan
Polster
Hodson
Hodson finally is out of contract.
Tavernier will remain first choice unless he wants to leave and i would suspect it would need a bid in excess of 5m to get him.
Flanagan is a decent second choice RB. Unlikely to get any offers in for him but if he does want to move i wouldn't imagine we would make it difficult either.
Polster is still finding his feet and is a utility player so he will stay and fill in as and when required.
Goalkeeper and the Defence next season.

Murphy will likely replace Kent.
Quite happy with that from our point of view if that turns out to be the case.

Squad fillers - both on freebies so no real risk other than wages
Surely Candieas, Grezda and Middleton are just as good as them though?
Unless they're there to replace Kent which would be insane.

Kent wont be back.
Celtic fans seem to have a higher opinion of Kent than we do.
He has been good but his two best games have been against celtic by some distance. When he has more space to play in and he can utilise his pace he is much more of a threat.
He rarely gets space against other teams in the league.
His over all stats aren't great. Yesterday again he frustrated by picking the wrong ball or failing to execute the killer pass.
He would be good to keep but deffo not worth breaking the bank for.

Probably because he's roasted us twice in 2 games

Murphy has much more end product as shown in their respective tallies and that was in a worse team.
I do rate Kent though but he's a lot more hit and miss than Murphy when he had his run in the team.

Kent has shown more in the last two OF matches than Murphy has previously. He definitely has more pace and more potential than Murphy.
But in terms of unlocking stubborn defences in the league then Murphy does carry a bigger goal and assist threat.
And if that helps us turn half those games we drew into wins next season then we will be better off for it.
Kent is one of those players that is nearly a superstar.
But not quite.
If he carried a bigger goal threat and if he could pick the right option more often than not he would be a £10-20m player.
He is still young though so there is hope he can kick on. It probably just wont be with us.

We need 4 options at centre half and we will likely have 2.
Barasic will be gone I reckon after Gerrard's outburst. Guy has talent but mentally he's a scheidtbag. Wallace will be gone as well, so a good quality left back is a must, in my opinion. We have been linked with some Portuguese guy playing in France so it seems like we're looking.
In goals I'd loan out McCrorie and sell one of Alnwick/Foderingham.
