Last four games

We’ve played against 3 teams with ten men, including one of the worst teams ever in the league. And we’ve got 1 points. The other game we got zero with a team with nothing to play for

I love beilsa as much as the next man, but he’s had an absolute nightmare last four

We continue to cross high balls into the penalty area with no height in our attacking players.

Why?

Not a quality comparison, obviously, but Man City score loads of goals with low crosses to a small set of forwards.

Why haven’t we implemented a similar set of tactics?

Why?

The question is, what changes for next season?

Dies Bielsa persist with EXACTLY same tactics and quality of players, if so then I’d expect same result.

He’s inflexible with his approach but in absence of better players I feel it needs tweaking somehow.

Some very valid points made in the threads above, which leads me also to wonder why these issues have not been addressed by the coaching staff.
On the outside, I'm adopting the line that "we've beaten Derby twice, both comfortably and we'll do it again", but on the inside, I've lost some faith. I hope for the best but wouldn't be surprised if they go through comfortably.

The sides left in the playoffs come to play, they don’t park the bus. That’s why we have a good record against them. They have less of the ball than they’re used to, they often struggle to hit their padding stride against our press and they don’t compress the pitch so we have more space to play ourselves especially in transition.

Flip side is when they do get it right, like West Brom away they have better quality to hit us on the break.

Player confidence is our biggest single issue going into this and mental fatigue which appears to have inflicted decision making in the team.

Hopefully the cup final atmosphere of these games will provide the adrenaline rush to offset this and maybe we’re due a spawny deflection or shinner that might make the difference.

Spot on, Milky.

We struggle against the poor teams because they sit back and the onus is on Leeds to make the space. We don't have any one who can take it past a player and the only one with real passing quality is Hernandez. So we struggle to create clear chances.

The flip side is that because we have more of the ball and have pushed players forward to break them down, when the opposition win it back, they have more space to counter as we saw with Ipswich's second goal.

Basically, the football that Leeds play is too good for the players within it. With better quality wingers and finishers, Leeds score enough to make the lapses at the back or on the counter irrelevant.

I think it was Wigan players who saud leeds style leaves spaces their plan is to just try and exploit that...teams done that to us all season some goals are just carbon copies.

It was Monk who set the blueprint with Birmingham back in September and every loss has been the same since.

But if Leeds could score enough, it wouldn't matter and we would have some high scoring wins. We should have scored 5 yesterday with the chances we had.

Yeh thing is bielsa knows it’s the risk to his style, it’s a calculated one, and he accepts those goals... it’s fine if you do something constructive with your 65% possession and countless chances and half chances. When we convert a few, like West Brom at home, we’re world beaters. When they don’t, we’re useless muppets.

Leeds were doing great, until found out, and most teams now use the same tactic to beat us. Even poor sides are effective against us. But maybe Bielsa has to stop being rigid and unchangeable, his football has been toothless recently. And if it's because some of these players are not good enough to play his style, he's had long enough of the season to get some players in January that can, or at least strengthen the squad for the final push.

Remember when we were all buzzing that we needed 10 points from 12 to go up. Laughable that we've come out with 1. And that was from the hardest game on paper.

There's just no excuse for not beating Wigan and Ipswich. Which would have at least left us on equal points with blades.

The lack of quality in the squad has caught up with us. Pablo ran out of steam in the last 4 and no one else has been able to step up.

Only positive I can see right now is that we play better against better teams.

Spot on Carajol. Thanks for the timely reminder.

I think Klich has stepped up. He was excellent against Villa minus the goal and scored a good goal yesterday. He's our only form player atm. Need Roberts backs
