What do you think of Martinez being rumoured to replace Cech in the squad next season? Im asking on here as Ive said in the past I think he has the potential to be good and got a general response that people thought I was wrong. It now appears that he has done well in his time at Reading after playing week in week out for the first time in his career and they are keen to sign him permanently. He has apparently had some great performances, . making both good saves and taking crosses. His distribution has improved as well apparently.
So what do you lot think of him now? I said before he went on loan I would like to see him get more chances and its looking like he will get that for us next season. Make or break time for him.
P.S. when replying please also say if youve seen any of his time at Reading.

Not seen enough of him to gauge really, what I will say is, he doesn't let mistakes get to him. Very assured of himself, just has to back that up with the skills.

I’ve always liked Emi, and wouldn’t have a problem with promoting him next season - especially given the amount of rebuilding we’ll have to do within the outfield squad.

I've always seen good potential in him but have only seen him in goal for us a handful of times in the past. Haven't seen any of his performances this season or even been following his progress.

I thought Ospina and Martinez were about equal as shot stoppers before last season, but I thought Martinez was better on crosses and controlling the area. They were different of course with Ospina being better at low close to the body shots but the bigger Martinez better at getting to the top corners. Evened out imo.
MArtinez should be given his chance and told if he can perform better than Leno he can be no. 1 which is what he wants to be. If he doesnt make it then allow him to go to a club where he can be their no.1.
