European progress and Poch

Since he has been at Spurs, Poch has talked about long term progress of the club, that's always been his aim. But generally football fans aren't interested in slow build - we want signings, instant success and the finished article out on the pitch.

Each time we've been knocked out of European competitions we moan that we don't have the mental strength and we're not good enough but Poch and the club always say the same - that the players will learn from the experience and it will help them in the future.

It always used to sound like a standard excuse to cover up our shortcomings and it was pretty uninspiring to hear, like we'd always be happy just to compete then accept it when we were knocked out because it was good experience.

But look at our progress in Europe since Poch has been there:

14/15: Europa - knocked out in Round of 32
15/16: Europa - knocked out in Round of 16
16/17: Champions League - don't make it out of the group
17/18: Champions League - knocked out in Round of 16
18/19: Champions League - make the final

Every year we have gone further in Europe than the year before.

Maybe he had a point and the players really have been learning from the year before. Such an advantage of keeping a settled squad.

He isn't perfect, but Poch deserves some serious appreciation.

Cannot WAIT for the final

What Flashy said

Europa, then go further in europa, then make the CL, then go further in the CL, then make the final

Yup. Like they were talking in post match analysis. Patience is the key. All all the chopping and changing never does anyone any good. This team has now become (Lucas Moura's words) family. They are gelling. 2nd half last night showed that. Patience is what we need. Not transfer marketing ins and outs

Well, that's all very well and good but .......
certain players are leaving the club .....
Eriksen and Alderweireld and Trippier for certain...
and others are slated for trading out ....

So next season will be a rebuilding season.
