Reasons to be cheerful: Man Utd

If Watford win the FA Cup not only does that mean your supposedly arch rivals don't get a cup but it also means your season will start in mid-June so you can get right back to the football early with the Europa qualifiers.

Not all bad is it?

Milan. Oslo first, then Bergen, then the Lofoten Islands.

I like Ole as it goes but he looks well out of depth to me. Needs a full preseason to properly judge though tbf.
==================

He's not 'out of his depth', unless you're willing to say LvG and Mourinho were also 'out of their depth'.

What Ole does have on his hands is a squad that needs significant refreshing, an injection of youth team players into the squad, plenty of time and the footballing infrastructure put in place to finally start catching up with clubs like City.

I'll go as far to say that any high profile manager would struggle in this environment, and that as a result, we desperately need some United people in the mix to start sorting things out. If Ole & Phelan (and Carrick) don't know how to get things at least back on track in terms of recruitment, the academy and the identity, then frankly I'm not sure who can.

I dont agree. Im not saying there are not mitigating circumstances, there are, but he can still be out of his depth both tactically and ability wise with coaching and man management.

He's also producing the worst form for Utd in living memory.

=====================

When, in living memory, has such a poor United team faced:

PSG twice
Barca twice
A City side this good
Liverpool
Arsenal
Chelsea
The best Wolves side there has been in a very, very long time

?

Our poor run of form was entirely predictable - in fact, it was predicted by many on here due to the fixtures and suspicions that we wouldn't be able to keep playing at the higher tempo shown in Ole's first month or so.

We also had a major injury crisis, and clearly have players who's head has been turned one way or the other away from the club.

On my point about having 'United people' at the helm on the footballing side...

I'm simply referring to the fact that we've lost our way in terms of recruitment and direction, and although it doesn't specifically take a United-man to identify this, I feel having people on the footballing side of things at United that have been part of a structure that had identity, that had a recruitment strategy and that have good standing with the fans is important.

Ole & co will be given support and time by the fans to trudge through the minefield in a way that outsiders might not have been.

This is actually true

I think I was alone, in a voice of one, saying we were playing rubbish as far back as Jan. Results generally drive the narrative. Performances drove mine. Ole got the best out of them for two or three games and the feel good factor went a bit further. But this squad is rotten to the core. And the guya who got new deals and those who are leaving on frees only adds to it. It's not acceptable

Yet Klopp could not beat him
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just about sums up your footy knowledge that you feel a one off away gsme in a derby against a new manager bounce is in some way indicative of a managers quality in a team sport really Mudd.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Surely the God level manager in Klopp would easily dispatch of this average manager.

Something's not quite right

Yeah our supposedly arch rivals have won 1 trophy in 13 years. As for City, I wish them all the best tomorrow

As for United starting the season early if Watford win, that relies on Arsenal getting the job done away from home tomorrow (not likely), or us not beating Cardiff (more likely). And if Arsenal won the Europa and achieved CL competition, I imagine that would also put the early entry in jeopardy. But I'm bot sure. As someone who's done the research, I'm sure you can help me out on that one op

Breaking news, Herrera leaving UTD at the end of the season.

Hardly breaking news. He's been ousted from the team with a non existent injury for the last two months. Rightly so.
