I said at the time that it would be really annoying if that sloppy last minute penalty against Spurs cost us a place in the top four. And it looks like my fears have proved right. Even with all the recent stupid loses we would have only needed a draw today to qualify if that penalty had gone in

Think not winning any of the last 4 games has been a bigger factor.

The pen didn't help but for me it was the Palace game.
That basically killed our season

Dropping points at home in crucial crunch games against facking crystal Palace and brighton is what did it. All we had to do was win our home games and we couldn't do it. One of the most pathetic botte jobs in nearly all my time as an arsenal fan

Oh BTW, this article is a shambles

Blaming our failure to finish in the top 4 on one player and one moment is silly... Think about all of the defensive mistakes that have cost us points and poor finish to the season when we had very winnable games - these two factors seem to be the bigger culprits, I would blame Mustafi & Xhaka far more than Auba if we're going to single out individuals as well.

I Know I thought it at the time
But lets hope his recent run of form continues in the final.

If only Xhaka hadn't lost his head at a crucial time. The Brighton player was actually going nowhere. Ridiculous penalty to give away.

That was the crucial moment.
You can miss penalties. They are not easy under pressure.
But Brighton had nothing to play for and have one of the poorest goal scoring record.

All teams have ifs and buts throughout the season.
It’s a 38 game season and not defined by a penalty miss. I could run through a list from our season but won’t bother as I understand the game.

To be honest if Spurs weren’t gutted by injuries to key players for large parts of the season then we would have finished double digits ahead of you. We haven’t won an away Prem game since the 20th January.
