Aubameyang

Finally back to the days of our player winning golden boot. He mused his hat trick chance but Iwobi towards the end fecked up an easy pass for him to shoot. Anyway even though it’s a shared trophy with Mane and Salah, golden boot is a golden boot.

I'm not assuming anything. I am basing my comments on what actually happened. And what actually happened is we played both strikers together in many of our bad results - including 4 of our bad results in the last 7 games where our only 2 wins came when one didn't play.

As such, to say we would have got 4th if they played together more doesn't really match up with what happened in the season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
So whats your point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That your claim that we would have finished top 4 if they had played more often is very, very flawed and unlikely to be true.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have however said that you are not inferring that our losses were down to those two playing together.

So my claim that we would have won more if they had is just as valid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I didn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then you are 'assuming'.

What the actual fack are you talking about? You made a statement to say we would have finished top 4 if Auba and Laca had played together more. I pointed out a lot of our bad results happened with both playing together. That is not an assumption, that is looking at our bad results and seeing if those two both played...

Look you either think those two playing together is the reason for our bad results at the end of the season or you don't. Which one is it?

In the context of our discussion, yes. Otherwise why did you mention it in the first place?

The conversation is about your claim that we would have finished top 4 if they played together more. The fact the results in the games they did play together doesn't back that up doesn't mean they are at fault, as I have said in this conversation the midfield and defence isn't good enough.
To me, that is blaming the midfield and defence more than Auba and Laca.

In which case you cannot draw a conclusion that my assertion that 'we would have finished in top 4 if they had together more' is wrong. If their partnership is not at fault for our leaky midfield or defence letting in goals as you suggest "To me, that is blaming the midfield and defence more than Auba and Laca."

At best you can say its not proven either way which I am willing to concede as its only opinion.

You said it was very likely, I said that is not the case, so your last post is just confirming what I have been saying all along

I still maintain its very likely. Which is my opinion. But it can only really be proven if they do play together as a starting partnership next season and as a result we finish in the top 4.

You what?
That wouldn't prove anything about this season at all.
