yep they're down next season i reckon. Strange decision to sack him.

Based on?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How often do you see it. Manager overachieves at a football club, keeps them in the league, and then they sack the manager and they go down. Burnley would be long gone if they had sacked Dyche after a bad spell.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but you also see it in reverse.
Pochettino came into England a hate figure because people somehow were duped into believing Nigel Adkins was better, then there's West Ham sacking Moyes for Pellegrini, Southampton sacking Hughes, Watford continually sacking their managers and progressing etc.
Sometimes it may not work but if your stagnating then it's worth a roll of the dice, Brighton look doomed if Chris stayed whereas now even if they go down they will likely do it fighting.

Blessing in disguise for Hughton. Gets a decent payout and well rid of that deadend of a football club. Should set himself higher target now. He'll do excellent for a club like Newcastle.

Newcastle sacked him a few years ago after winning the championship with them iirc

Oh ffs forgot about that
Hughton is a top coach. Deserves a bigger club with a larger budget.

He's a top defensive coach but Brighton have looked clueless of ideas going forward all season, and particularly in 2019.

I'm sure whoever the first PL team is to sack their manager next season, Hughton will be one of the favourites for.
Would probably suit a job like Crystal Palace/Watford right now.

I can understand why the board have done it, but don't agree with it. They did spend a fair amount this summer and not many of them players have lived up to what their transfer fee's may have suggested, but even still, at this moment Brighton should just be happy to be in the PL.
Hughton was doing that and so much more for the club, this is the only bad spell he's really had and his sides have always been tough to beat. Hope he does get another job elsewhere, good manager.

Unlikely as it'll be considered a step down for him but I'd be really happy to see him join the coaching team at Spurs.

Brighton seem to be in that tricky position of wanting to advance as a club but not having the wage structure to do it properly.
They have relied on the 'old guard' to get them out of trouble and it's a massive punt to leave that behind.
So many clubs who get above their station and want expansive football etc. end up relegated.

Stoke City the obvious example. Got fed up with 9th every season and wanted more, they ended up 19th by trying to restructure their squad for high profile names.
Swansea the same. Tried to sign the high profile names to push them somewhere, ended up getting relegated.

Hughton deserves better, I hope Brighton go down next year
